  1. YESSS! Volunteered! Like last year I'm having three friends volunteering with me... this is going to be so much fun
  2. Aw only CAS members can sell stuff now? Wouldn't that make it less stuff to auction? And do CAS now post their Auction on Kijiji? I think you should! I first heard of CAS from the Kijiji on the Auction like 2 years ago and missed last year's Fall auction due to not hearing from Kijiji and assumed it was the week after... It'd also get more people to attend. And this year I'm volunteering as a runner again SO looking forward it!
  3. Well I have to say this is a cute but really slow growing plant. Does not really require any special care except it needs lots of Micro and Macro supplements or any new growth will appear pale/whitish.
  4. Thanks all! I am probably planning on volunteering at like a shelter or something but a lot of them aren't looking for volunteers or they need foster homes which I can't provide. Right now I'm thinking maybe the ferret rescue
  5. Looks awsome! Love the thick looking cuba!
  6. Source - Already decided to be a runner xD Val - Yeah I know but it'd break my heart when they gets put down ;_;
  7. To be honest I don't know. I called Dave Howarth and told him I'd like to volunteer at the CAS auction and needed school credit for this and I think he did the rest (hopefully he did anyways). I think someone needs to contact my school or something and let them know.
  8. Ah I don't think I'll get school hours for LFS volunteer. Lol I'd love to do Jar Show Coordinator or Calquarium Editor... if you let me because my grammar sucks lol. And would I get volunteer hours
  9. Yep I'm definitely plan to volunteer at the next auction in a month, it was a lot of fun last time!
  10. Does CAS meetings needs volunteers? And do I get volunteer credit for doing so? I need 75 volunteer hours to graduate and only have 6 from the last CAS Spring Auction and three more is not enough. I can't seem to find any motivation to volunteer for anything non aquarium related and this also gives me a excuse to attend meetings during a school Monday .
  11. If it's a low light tank with no CO2 it really doesn't matter what kind of substrate you use since you are depriving it of the most 2 important things it needs to survive. Just use whatever you think it'll look nice
  12. Well, I don't really know but I just use it cause it brings out the color in my shrimps. It's best to use only 2 kinds of gravel that compliment each other. Usually when you vacuum the gravels the stuff you put at the very bottom can surface and it can be a pain if it looks messy/bad.

    Hello

! I find I'm more interested in aquascaping than gardening lol.
  14. I was a volunteer there this March and nothing really interesting. Plants are just average I only got like 2 kinds or so. Man I wish I could go to the Edmonton one but I don't drive.
  15. Lol we all need money. For fish addicts the word "enough" isn't in the dictionary! I really hope I'll get some good plants since we rarely go for vacation and we'll not be going again anytime soon
  16. I saw it on the map too, they do seem relatively close. I think I'll check them both out... the Crystal Reds are calling me
  17. So Nature's Corner for plants and Big Als for shrimps... Are those close to the big mall in Edmonton?
  18. So Nature's Corner only have pond right now? And I'll add Big Al's on my to go list
  19. I might possibly go to Edmonton this Saturday and I want to check out some good shops there . Due to the fact that this is a family vacation and we are not staying over please recommend ONE pet shop that carries a GOOD and LARGE selection of plants. Maybe also some shrimps if you've seen them there this week .
  20. Don't worry, those little bugs are signs that you have good water quality and a mature tank!
  21. ! And what kind of tanks do you have?
  22. Welcome! I think you should just borrow books from the Library. Why pay when you can get them free??
  23. Yeah, Rotala needs REALLY strong light. Mine are in a 5.2 and 4.6 wpg, with Co2 and I still don't think it's doing too great. The corners look a little dark so I think you'll have problems with this plant. How about Rotala Rotundifolia instead? I'll grow in lower light with no Co2 than wallachi and will turn pink/red toward the light. And check this page out for red plants: http://www.tropica.com/plants/plant-list-a-z.aspx
