Did you get the Black Algae Shrimp from Pisces a few month ago? They had some under that name but I didn't buy it cause I couldn't figure out what species they were.

I agree with jzz30tt. The best kelvin for growing plants is under 10,000K and 20,000k is for marine corals and plants. Also sometimes I get plants that would keeps on dying no matter what. I had some Rotala Sp. Green and Cardamine lyrata that would rot from the bottom leaves up and I couldn't seem to find the solution so I threw them away. If you can't fix it no matter what then maybe consider finding some healthier vals from another source :/

I know this is stupid, but how bright are your lights? Maybe your light aren't bright enough or it's time to clean or get new lights?

I don't know either. I think crayfish can grow back its claws after molting? I'm not sure but keep us updated on the situation and good luck

I think brown algae is the easiest algae to clean in aquariums. The magnet will easily clean the brown algae but they cannot clean the tough green algae that will appear in your tank.

I never had Wood shrimps before but is he missing BOTH of his arms? If so then I think he might not live long because they use their fans to trap particles and then eat them, if they don't have that, they will starve to death.

Anyone know a pet shop that's hiring in Calgary? I've already tried Pisces, Big Al's, Gold's, and Riverfront but nobody has given me a call back yet (I think they are all full). I already have a PT job but I just really want to work at a pet shop, just can't get enough of fish! I also have experiences with birds, so anyone know a place that's hiring? BTW NO Petlands, I can't stand how they treat their birds, with everyone poking and touching it's really stressful and can easily transmit diseases!

I joined the hobby about 4-5 years ago and after keeping lots of fish, my interest have now settled with shrimps and plants. I'm planning and getting lots and lots of new shrimps and my goal is to breed and keep the Blue Tiger. My favorite fish is the Chocolate Gourami cause of their adorable personalities. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys!
