Need Help With Identification Of Fish
gettingthere replied to gettingthere's topic in Neotropical identification
Thank you David. I guess I am going to have to keep her away from male SA cichlids if I wish to avoid further hybridization. I am going to go with that ID. Cheers Stan -
Need Help With Identification Of Fish

Bump. Any clever fish ID people out there....over 40 views? -
Hi Forum Please help me identify what type of fish I have. I purchased her at the CAS Auction a few years ago. It is a female as she just laid eggs and is guarding them aggressively. It looks like there is no viable male in the tank as the eggs are starting to become white in colour. Thank you in advance for your opinion of what fish this is and any suggestions of a potential suitable mate welcome!

Nice bidding. Thanks to all the volunteers. Bought a few female bettas, Monty Swords and a wine glass full of Malyasian snails. Great day out.

So? What did everyone get at the auction?
gettingthere replied to AvianAquatics's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
Yah Hi Folks, I bought the 10 gallon with (wire) canopy for 3 bucks !! Gift to a newbie it is. Got a bag of 3 Scarlet cribs for 12 bucks and a bag of Jacks for a buck, bargain but one guy was already dead when we got home. As for the auction, we are new to Calgary, so it was a pleasant outing. Auctions are sometimes loss leaders, but they certainly bring people together, especially new ones. Keep it up. Prices of tanks were going for very little (see above) - wish I had waited for the auction before buying 8 tanks and setups off kijiji over the last few months. Cheers to everyone. -
Ok, so all the responses suggest "bigger the better" essentially. Now, let me ask you guys to help me narrow it down: 1) What is the minimum number of TBs that should be schooled together in any size tank? and 2) Assuming they were 8 inches in length each, and based on question 1, how long minimum should the tank be? and 3) Assuming you guys suggest a tank length that I don't own, how many TBs of 8''' could I house in a 3 foot tank, if any at all? and 4) Assuming I could only keep the number of TB's from question 3, what could I possibly do with the other fish? Thank you everyone for your advice.

Hi, currently breeding wild guppies (poecelia reticulata?) as my first foray into breeding.
