  1. Nope, not pacus. Pygocentrus Nattereri... Red Belly Piranha's. :smokey:
  2. Because I believe my tank is getting plenty from my fish. I have a 14" 4-5lb Black piranha, with about 170 little occupants.(neons. cardinals). Perameters in the tank will always include a good measure of phosphates and Nitrates, I would think. It's about 120g. Here's my set-up: I have 100w lighting. 15 or so Vasilnerria. I have had some algea problems in the past. As well the plants weren't growing well or keeping their color. I was only at around 30w lighting before however, and now I don't don't use my air pump. Algae seems to have stabalized. I must tell you it's only been a week since I changed those elements though. Tell me what you suggest. I'm certainly open to suggestions. Pat
  3. Thanks Jason. I just got back from the lfs and picked up some Flourish. It's Nitrate and Phosphate free. I guess I answered my own question. Thanks again1
  4. Like the Topic description says... "Which are Phosphate and Nitrate free?" I am going to add some to my tank. Is Flourish free of those?

    Glass Top

My father in law is a glass guy. i had the exact same problem on the exact same tank once. Take it to a glass shop and they will score it and break it. If you were in red deer i would do it for you. They probably wont even charge you. just walk in and say " is there anyone here who can take a second and score this for me? I need 2 mm taken off". take them 2 min to do 4 edges. it's so simple. get yourself a scoring knife if they want to charge you. probably 4$. all you do is score the glass witha straight edge... so you see a dull consistent line...hang 2mm over edge of table and used pliers to break. to do that just snap downward.
  6. I'm lookin at adding more blackskirts and ordering lots of Cardinals, only full grown. Would this be ok? Tiger barbs aren't that big... maybe an inch? I'm used to dealing with BIG predators. Maybe they're getting sucked into the filter but I have extensions added on with screen around to prevent little guys getting sucked to or in the filter. I never have noticed any dead neons just the cloud has shrunk... ?
  7. Yes!!!!!! What's your name again? I'm there tomorrow.
  8. Is it my 4" Rapheal catfish in the conservatory with the wrench? Or my 9 Blackskirt tetra's in the ballroom with the candlestick? Could it be my four 2" Cherry barbs in the hallway with the revolver? What about my two 1" Tiger barbs in the study with the rope? Is it my four Zebra danio's in the kitchen with the knife? Would my two guppies kill in the library with the lead pipe? Please help me solve my mystery. I've had about 30 small neon's disappear since I put them in there two months ago. Need to know. Starting new tank this weekend.
  9. I inquired of that Rhom and they just sold it. they said it was no where near a foot. 7 or so inches.
  10. Thanks for the compliment! Nick and I have talked fish before. He's actually from Red Deer. Nick from Red Deer?!?! I know that Nick is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, unless he has a split personality that he's not telling me about. He was here before he moved there. We're talking about the same guy.
  11. -roll- I fed him tonight. An 8 inch smelt, inch across. He ate it, like usual, whole. One try. Thank goodness I only have to feed him twice a week! By the way, thanks Darcy you're a great person to deal with. Very fair. I still want that stand though...
  12. Thanks for the compliment! Nick and I have talked fish before. He's actually from Red Deer.
  13. Shark Aquarium is awesome but you will get charged alot at fish and wild life and all those other exchange costs. I have huge Wolf Fish on my order form from Oliver. I PM'd Madness. You can oder 16" for around $300 cdn which is Olivers minimum charge. He ships Air Canada same day.
  14. About 1 per gallon eh? I have 2 ac500's w/ biowheels attached and an eheim 2217 as well. The eheim's on my other tank right now. I want a stunning visual. Having full grown cardinals at about 1 per gallon would probably do it. Thanks for your educated opinion.
  15. Check your PM. BIG Wolf fish. BTW Piranha House... Armand... Go to Piranha-fury.com. You'll understand why you never got a reply. It took them all of about a month and they lost their sponsership. He owes money to his suppliers and buyers are still waiting for their fish.
  16. Talking about full grown by the way. 1-1.5" 150 too many? More?
  17. No... he wasn't in stock, in fact he wasn't even out of the river when I inquired.
  18. He's in a temporary tank it's a 75. He's fine as is, as I have a powerhead on the bottom that he likes. He swims in it 24/7. A 180 for life would be plenty. as long as the tank is 18" wide and 5-6' long he'd be happy. I will put him in a 108/125/130 size range.
  19. No. I have a little guy who is. I wouldn't want one this big and that aggressive. Way to dangerous. I am VERY cautious with this guy. He would easily remove 2-3 fingers. Very powerful. It's like a lion.
  20. Are you sure it's not a Pacu. Petland has one of these?... http://photobucket.com/albums/b398/bigpira...MG_0007_5_1.jpg http://photobucket.com/albums/b398/bigpira...MG_0012_7_1.jpg
  21. Small children. Actually he eats large Smelts. 6-8" twice a week. 1-2 bites. He's from Peru. I special ordered him through Oliver Lucanus at Belowwater.com.
