  2. 6x Polypterus senegalus 2x Polypterus ornatipinnis 1x Polypterus delhezi 2x Polypterus weeksi 2x Polypterus retropinnis 1x Erythrinus erythrinus 2x Spotted gar (too lazy to look up latin name) 1x Lima shovelnose cat 2x Blue channel cat (1 norm, 1 albino... both over 2 feet) 1x Marble sleeper goby (underwater puppy dog) 1x Pangiasus sanitwongsei (my brother's fault) Sure the rest aren't fish, but theyre predators nonetheless 2x Black and White Argentine Tegu 1x Savanna Monitor 1x Aussie Water Dragon 1x Sawu Python 7x Red eared Sliders
  3. The RTC did end up getting one of the arowana though ooo, yeah, I totally forgot about that one...that tanks gotta be like 1000 gallons. I woulda thought the arrowana would of got the fry by now for sure too...
  4. Kim - If youre heading down to Calgary any time soon (or whenever) I'd love to take that guy @ Crowfoot, I've got a 13" one at home, and it's one of the best fish I've ever had... shows absolutely no agression towards any fish he can't inhale, and is just an awesome spectacle when eating.
  5. The green water is basically free floating algae in the tank, and being too close to the window is definetly a contributing factor. Excess nutrients in the water would most likely be the other half of the cause, possibly from feeding too much, or not enough partial water changes. I would definetly move the tank to somewhere that it is not getting direct sunlight, and probably cut back on the amount of time that the tank's lights are on until the green goes away.
  6. I once had a customer come into my store that had just taken her dying chameleon to a vet here in calgary to have it checked out/put down, and was told that she had a "perfectly healthy iguana". The vet still tried to charge her for the visit when she told him that he was full of it. It's kind of scary that a vet would try and charge someone for a checkup on an animal that he did not know anything about, let alone how to diagnose a problem.
  7. I just got about 20 of these guys in at Crowfoot Petland, and I must say... even to a large oddball fish lover like myself, theyre pretty darn tempting
  8. Looks like a gachua to me, though I'm not entirely sure.
  9. I have had common plecos in my outdoor pond for years, but I always bring them back inside in the fall. They tend to be a little too sensitive to the temps at a small size, but I have never lost one over 8" in the pond yet... I definetly would reccomend bringing them inside for the winter, they don't do very well once the temp drops below 60F. I usually worry more about my koi and turtles eating the pond plants than the plecos, theres always plenty of algae on the rocks for them.
  10. I'm definetly on the "fancy" goldfish are hideousside of this debate... I think those toadfish are awesome, I had one for a couple years before I made the newbie mistake of adding a banjo cat (also not ugly) and learned why catfish have such nasty spines. The toadfish grabbed the banjo during the night, and was dead the next morning... the banjo cat is still going strong 5 yrs later.

    Fluval FX5

My brother recently picked one up for a 180g tank, and it was much easier to set up than the old fluval 04 series, and is so far doing a great job. I had heard nothing but good things about them, you can probably find some reviews on some European sites, as they have been out longer in Europe
  12. My dad had always had a community tank since I was born, when I was 8 I got a 10 gallon starter kit for christmas, and put 2 convicts in it, which turned out to be a pair, and bred for me, a lot of the young survived... until 40 or so fish in a 10 gallon started to take its toll and all but the original pair died. They never bred again but they did live for about 5 years. After that I didnt keep fish until 3 years ago when the bug hit me real hard, and was up to 13 tanks at one point (not bad for a poor bugger working retail). I have since moved out of the parents place, and just have 3 tanks with me now (no way was I moving a 175 and 180) and am dying for a real big tank for the 2 Florida Stingrays (Dasyatis sabina) that I got into my store a couple weeks back.
  13. Its going for about $45, but I have room to move on it
  14. I have one at the store, and its about 3 1/2 to 4" Hoover would be a great name... this thing eats twice as much as some catfish twice its size
  15. If you are in Calgary I do just so happen to have another in stock @ Crowfoot Petland right now
