  2. Right On guys, Thats exactly what I needed to hear Thanks for the quick response too
  3. I need to put a 1 1/2" bulkhead in my 230 gallon, problem is the glass looks chipped and has a rough inner surface...... I have b=never used silicone on a bulkhead before and have yet to have one leak so I am wondering how to approach this? I know the bulkheads at big als have a double washer seal and its a rubber, better than the standard seal so Im thinking to give that a shot and as a back up maybe put a bead of silicone down with it??? Is there any way to sand down glass? buff it with a grinder ect?
  4. I bought 10 bags the last time they were on sale.... I always wondered about the salt content feeding freshwater fish, But i also add salt for my aro comm for the torn fins so i figure there is no harm
  5. I think my next addition to the mech side will be a UV and i would like to try my hand at building an acrylic custom sump with a bunch more baffels and WAY more bulkheads for various attachments I thought of after the sump was built lol..... So rdfishguy........ expect a few PMs or worst case scenario me a case of beer and a rack of meat on your door step lol
  6. I cant help it With the aros it works amazing.... I love the sumo look and quality food in moderation you avoid the plj and drop eye The rtc is on his way out now anyways thanks to the damn loaches..... 5 more this size would do awesome in my all black tank thanks for all the help guys they are eating pellets like champs now they were just too big before
  7. anyone vouch for ridich? Seems its all the rage on google for just about every forum when it comes to ich After the salt and heat ofcourse
  8. I figured they were from sumatra, Im not sure if they are recent imports or not but they are eating prawns like crazy I feed all my fish twice a day super worms and prawns and i try the pellets every other day and its just the barbs and silver dollars that really eat them. Ill be trying smaller sized NLS so i hope that becomes the loaches staple. I will be keeping an eye out for the borneo's for sure they look amazing
  9. well the 5 foot sump i had on the 180 gallon had 5 baffels in it...... and honestly with the amount of water that moves through this sump i dont see any problems...... not to mention Im getting water flow from the top and side of the ceramics with the air stones..... I love 1.5HP pumps
  10. Jam packed the sump with another 10 gallons of ceramics.... Tons of pads ect ect..... still half empty lol Thanks RDfishguy for the help added a little crossback to the mix too very happy how this tank is coming along
  11. Its kinda silly,,,, I never really wanted clowns.... all my years keeping tankmates and aro's I never bothered with loaches. I got the 3 now from a trade as a bonus...... And im in love with them I want more......
  12. Wow boydo thats awesome I think ill have to do some shopping for more loaches..... What dimention is that tank? Do you have any pics of how the spray bar is set up at all? Does it cause much back pressure to your pump?
  13. What NLS do you feed them? I have a can of mega fish but no one likes to eat it lol not even the red tail cat....
  14. What do you guys figure is the best type of food to pump up clown loaches? I recently got 3 around 8-10" and they are very lean..... I would like to get them chubby and happy right away. I was told shrimp pellets So i will be trying those for sure but what else can i give them in large quantities?
  15. Just went through the whole post..... Great job super pumping this beast up do you use frozen talapia? where do you buy your prawns/fish? what is its certificate date? and how long is he? Im very impressed
  16. Is it just me or is that thing a GIANT? Wow bro It looks amazing
  17. Ohh bro, Cant wait to see em in the big tank Where did you pick them up?
  18. Im looking into the coralife twist for mine..... I dunno.... I heard its good for the price and the bulbs are cheap
  19. I have never even thought of this..... all my tanks 180's 230's 300 ect have all been filled with my garden hose..... even the koi pond at moms..... garden hose..... Thats scary to think about now
  20. Ive got to find a way to stuff this under my tank lol..... Awesome idea bro
  21. So.... I have 4 inches to the frame of my sump that has no water lol...... I dont see a way around submerging everything..... Ive googled this to death and i dont know where else to go...... The bio balls have to be submerged..... I have a 5" air disc under them now..... but if that isnt enought what other options would i have? I figured with a 1.5HP pump there would be enough oxygen for them to thrive and with the bubbler it would make it close to a trickle setup.... If not then im screwed lol..... there is no way to bring down the water level at all..... And i need that first compartment for the quick clean sponges.....
  22. Im trying to think of a way to get the bio balls out of water but really there isnt any room, Ill try making walls of the ceramic rings that makes sense, Also i have the return line from the pump blowing above them so there is tonnes of current and areration there as well. Thanks for the help guys
  23. Thats where i have it now, 5 or 6 pads at the top then the bio balls right under with a bubbler in the bottom of the bio balls
  24. Wow, Thats really cool. Ill have to take a look at this again, I didnt want to put the bio balls first due to dirt and crap not being filtered before them. and there is alot more bio balls then room in any other compartment. Rd i may be interested for sure
  25. LOL redO...... Dont think i havent noticed it up for sale ...... I almost hit you up a few times now lol..... Im just trying to get all the kinks worked out and figure out a battle plan for stock. If i can move some of my silvers ill take it for sure, Im trying to get some rays in there too but im trying not to overstock it..... keep the numbers where they are at
