  1. 100% correct!!! I agree tinfoils are already full grown. they are already big, as well as old and probably stunted. they arrived years before i did. tank still looks empty and is barely dirty every week when i go clean it. yes, oscars are out as they would be a one fish add in and i already got offers for a few other things. Not interested in having long pointless discussions or fights on fish compatibility or stocking, so this is all I am going to say about it: everyone has their own opinions, everyone has their own experiences, there is no one way to keep fish. "overstocked" is often a relative term depending on how people like to look at their tanks. for some people 30 tetras in a 100 gallon is too many fish. the water quality is good, fish are healthy, fish are happy and acting normal, i have been fish keeping for over 10 years. Filtration is good and water changes are done regularily. I will let people know when I have just the right amount of fish. Right now the problem is having not enough. I do know what I am doing and it would be not in my interests to go anywhere near overstocking a tank since that means I have to take a 1 hour transit trip there and back more often to catch up on cleaning and to make sure fish aren't killing each other. I like doing it but I do have a life. Fish can't read, they don't know what they are "supposed" to act like, lots of strange fish pairings work, every tank is unique depending on the individuals of the species and the upkeep done on it. I have seen discus tanks with random tanganikan cichlids swimming around in them. my current discus tank defies every rule in the book. For every person that says you can't do something, there is someone who has done it. I'm just not interested in taking this convo any further. We don't agree, we never will on this one, so simple answer is don't give me any fish if you think it's too many. End of discussionon on compatability/stocking. I hope most people will just give me the benfit of the doubt that their fish will be getting a good home with good water, space, food, and will be really appreciated.
  2. It will be cool to see all the pico tanks for the aquarium beautiful. An easy way to fool people if you don't say the size!
  3. My mother told me when I was little I told her it was my life goal to own an angelfish. Completed the life goal but it sucks when they go.

    Hi

Hi everyone! I joined mostly because I volunteer and look after two fish tanks at St. Joe's Hospital every week and I am wondering if anyone has any fish they would like to donate to their sparsely stocked tanks. I thought people on AA might have some extra fish. One is a 75 gallon community tank with a lot of room left to put fish in, the other is a 75 gallon with 2 docile parrotfish, 3 tinfoil barbs, and 2 plecos. I was thinking an albino oscar might be fun for this tank if anyone has one. Not an extemely mean one though. They need bright fish or fish of a good size so that they can see them. For the community tank if anyone has: Platys, Swordtails, etc. Rainbowfish Large snails I think those would be awesome additions for their color/size. (Also because livebearers are the gift that keep on giving!) They are well looked after so if you have anything that needs a new home, please message me! I can arrange pickup or meet you somewhere or have you drop it off to me. (Not directly to the hospital and put in the tanks though please! Talk to me first! The admin will freak out if random people start going there.) The fish they currently have are a combination of resident's family's fish, been donated by Nature's Corner, or I have bought them. If you do donate I made posters beside each tank and I will add your name to the list of thank you's. Most of these people are stuck in wheelchairs for life and lots of physical and mental handicaps. Watching the fish is something they all enjoy even if they can't speak or move anymore. Any donation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
