  1. Motoro's going for $150 Tim. I'll try to get some more pics up later tommorow.
  2. Ha! Ha! After half an hour of sitting in front of my tank with a camera, I finally got a good long piece of it. This is a video. On it, you're gonna see a bit of behavior described in literature: the female will dash at the male and the male will arc his body towards the female, sometimes shaking his head. After this, the male will "kiss" the spine of the female and everyone is cool. I'm assuming this dominance behavior is to both reestablish pair bonding and keep the male from changing sex. Anyway, without further ado... Vid.
  3. I don't see the problem with OB's. It's not like anyone will mistake them for, say RUBY RED PEACOCKS, and accidentally produce some unwanted offspring. And hell, even if they did, they would be sold as *gasp* OB PEACOCKS.
  4. Gachua's are pretty distinct from bleheri's as far as I can tell. Christian was in our store recently and me and him are pretty much in agreement that these were the real deal. Damn Tim, did you get a chance to check em out? I don't think any of the P-fish guys got any from us. We're only sending out 3. In towner's took the rest. Anyway, has anyone ever seen C. orientalis alive before?
  5. Won't happen Rahim. I've kept them before and they're pretty touchy when it comes to food competition. Rams and other South American dwarfs are okay, and with caution, maybe even some of the more docile Tangs (julies). I wouldn't try them with anything else though. When you have time, check out a fish called Sturisoma aureum. Awesome fish! Dennis bred these en' mass eight years ago but I haven't seen any since. I remember having six of these when I was lazy, ignorant and 13. Way tougher then the Farlowellas. Pic here.
  6. Okay, this is just tenatively speaking for now, so no gaurantees: I might be able to convince Dennis to do an Jeff Rapps order! Ho! Ho! He's looking to do more with the Neotropicals and, seriously, does anyone have a better reputation then Jeff? I think not. Cross your fingers!
  7. I agree with Rahim. Cyp's are definitely the trend for "demand". I'll use that term loosely though. One thing you have to consider is that while people may express a high interest in an animal, for most, that is all it's ever going to be: an interest. The price of these animals (we're talking wild caughts since no one seems to be breeding them ATM in Alberta) is barely justifyable to most hobbyist. That being said, it would be great if someone out there took it upon themselves to make an investment into a group of cyps with the intentions of breeding them to lower the cost of the species, giving it a wider appeal to more hobbyist. Dennis did this eight years ago with frontosa and it's a damn good thing he did. Do we all dishing out $26.00 a pop at Pisces and Riverfront for 2" Burundi's or $55 for 1.5" seven-stripes? I sure do.
  8. I'll harrass Dennis to bring in some more!
  9. IMHO, loiselle look like crappy motas.
  10. Hey Rahim, Gold Nugget Pleco (Baryancistrus sp. L081). Hope that helps. Anyway, to answer your question from earlier today, Gold Nugget vs Goldy Pleco
  11. So who ended up picking off all those bleheri's we had in the store? They were there on Tuesday, I come in today and BAM, all gone!
  12. MASTA HUNG! Isn't that your bestest best bed friend Victor? Last I heard, you two were pretty close eh? HAHAHAH jks big guy.
  13. COnsider this method a good means to kill just about ANYTHING you need to have killed. Last I heard, boiling water makes small animals die . :guns:
  14. .. Wow, thats awful. I'm glad you got through that in better shape then your fish. Anyway, to answer your question, I could probably get a hinge for your lid. How long do you need it?

*drooling* We once had a gorgeous 8" electric yellow at the store. For whatever reason, our big male henlyei ray decided he'd make a lunch out of the poor guy. Anyway, I'm still skeptical of venustus reaching those sizes on a regular basis. I just haven't seen it, and I know a lot of venustus keepers. I know they get that big in the wild for sure, but again, captives (most anyway) seem to not have the proper lineage or something (excuse my terminology if it's out of place here).

I have an uncle who has 5 venustus in a 200 gallon for 8 years and counting now and they are 7" tops. Maintanance is par to none (I do it) and they are fed a trillion times a day. I can say likewise about moorii. My point here is that I just have serious doubts about the AVERAGE size of these fish exceeding 7" under normal, no, most household circumstances.

I'm thinking those C. moorii & N. venustus will get a tad bit bigger than 5-7". Hey Tom, just my 2 cents worth, but if I had a 185 sitting around (uh yeah, don't I wish) I'd fill it with 20 C. moori juvies (and remove any extra males as they mature, keeping perhaps 3 males and the rest females), and 20 of the best yellow lab juvies I could find. Great color, lots of action with the labs (yet no serious aggression), and in a larger tank of that size the moori will school, just like in the wild. Also, both of those groups have females that show great color. IMO the perfect blue/yellow combo for a larger tank of that size. Cyrtocara moorii juvies are easy to find, but good quality yellow labs are a bit more difficult to locate. I'd like to see one over 7". Hell, I'd pay a pretty penny for that.
  18. I have some advice for you man: Freshwater SUCKS, stay where it's warm! Hahah, just kidding.
  19. Nope, Mike has been working on a new mutant form of monster ich. Ha! Ha! Let's get him guys!
  20. You better hand that over Mike.
