    Hi Mika,

I am interested in the 2 redcap oranda. I currently have a 72G with 3 goldfish in them, plus red cherry shrimp and a few other community fish. I can send photo if you need proof. Just wondering where is the fish currently located?

  2. Hello there Most recently, my local hobbyist's club has learned that a girl at ACAD did this "art piece" with glued together glass bottles. She then placed goldfish into these 2 litre death cells. After her work was completed she just left them in there without food or water changes. But a member somehow found out and quickly took in all 15 goldfish on the spot without actually tanks or setups ready for them. As a result my friend, "A" took all of them in. She has a cycled empty 75 gal who was suppose to be getting its first stocks of cichlid but obviously it didn't occur. Here is a group shot of the goldfish. We have 4 black moors, 1 orange moor, 1 calico fantail, 2 redcap oranda and 7 orange/white fantail. They range from 2 - 3.5 inches. They under QT and parasite treatment, the healthy ones will be ready by the end of Feb or Beginning of March. If you are in the Calgary area and would like to adopt one, please PM me and answer a couple basic care questions. If you are not in the Calgary area but still wish to adopt, I can ship the goldfish to you once its warmer. The min. tank size is 30 gallons, as goldfish need at least 1 other goldfish, 20 gallons for the first and 10 gallons for each additional. There is no adoption fee needed if you can show me a picture of a setup, if not the adoption fee is $5 per goldfish. I don't have the final say for adoption as my friend A is the foster, but I am going to help her get as many adopters as possible. Out of the 15, I also took one, which is the smallest of them all. Here is a shot of him/her (and no, he/she does not live in there, the fellow has a 16 gallon bin pond setup) in a bowl to show you how small he/she is and to see him/her clearly. Fellow is a bit skinny and is only a baby, really underweight and has some body rot but probably will recover by Feb. I would like to adopt this little moor out to a good home. PM if interested. If this is in the wrong section feel free to move it mods. I couldn't find a goldfish section and there wasn't really an adoption section either.
  3. Darn! Just when I was about to look for some online, they seem pretty neat. I been thinking of doing some different with the tank, I had platies for a long time so I stopped breeding/getting them and is just waiting for the last 3 to either find new homes or finish up their lifespan. I think I'll look into Lemon Tetras, they are pretty neat too.
  4. Thank you so much for the replies! I have Fluorescent Bulb that is rated 24W, I just use normal black gravel as my substrate. I have the horn wort tied down to a piece of driftwood, The Java fern is planted into the gravel and is doing okay. The only thing driving me bonkers is the Guppy Grass, parts of it is getting swept by the filter and clogging up the intake. Do you guys think I should increase my fish? I thought about getting 6 Glofish, would that be over stocking in addition to 3 platies?
  5. I been trying to do planted tanks forever, for some reason I have extremely bad luck with plants. Everything from the plant just dying to horrible ich break outs from them. I have a 10 gallon cycled, heated to 76F with just 3 male platies. Its pretty understocked and I recently took some plants from a friend's tank in hopes of propagating them. I don't think my fish will produce nitrate for the plants and I have low light, so I was thinking about using some fertilizers. But there are a lot of brands, some brand suggested by people on other forums only sell in States. So I was wandering if you guys know any good brands that sell in Canada, or better yet Alberta that is not overpriced? My plants are Guppy grass, hornwort, java fern and baby tears.
  6. Your plants look great The tank is nice!
  7. From the bottom of my guts I seriously do not support fighting fish (or anything), I never understood why people do this kind of things on purpose. People need new hobbies, seriously.

    Hi :)

Hey Guys, I am new to this forum but definitely not new to aquariums. Had them since I was 6. My favorite aquarium fish are probably goldfish and bettas. My grandmas is a goldfish breeder/hobbyist so she probably started my interest in fish.I got introduced to this forum because I am trying to adopt out some rescued bettas. Just wanted to give a hello to everyone. =] I own a 29 gallon cycled with 2 black moors, 10 gallon cycled, planted (or attempted) with male 3 platies and 5 individual two gallons with bettas. In which 2 are mine own and 3 are rescues (which I am desperate to downsize, too much water changes for one person) I would write a witty comment to appear cool but I honestly have none. Thanks for reading?
