    Heaters

I went with this, http://www.kensfish.com/viaaqua-titanium-heaters.html, after my last glass one broke. It is the cheapest titanium one I can find and it works.

    Hi Mika,

I am interested in the 2 redcap oranda. I currently have a 72G with 3 goldfish in them, plus red cherry shrimp and a few other community fish. I can send photo if you need proof. Just wondering where is the fish currently located?

  4. T5 Lighting is higher effiiciency as well as greater light output. Same as the differance was between T12 lighting and T8. Smaller diameter tubes with greater efficiency and better light output. I don't believe the T5 would add any value if you have no plant in the tank.
  5. I would be scared to have a tank like that in my house......did you not clean the glass in between silicone jobs? If you clean it well enough, and build the tank properly it'll never leak. I would be scared too as silicone is not suppose to stick to silicone, not well anyway. That is why you go through the exercise of removing all old silicone.
  6. Thank you for all the response.
  7. I got some shrimps last year (Nov'ish). I can see the female carrying but have yet to see any baby shrimp. I am assuming that the baby may be too small to see/find as the tank is heavily planted. Just wondering how long do I have to wait before I can see millions of baby. What is people's experience. 10G, planted. 10 shrimps, snails, no fish.
  8. Don't. Aluminum can cause Alzheimer in fish It should be fairly safe according to the material data safety sheet - http://www.sciencelab.com/xMSDS-Aluminum_oxide-9922858 Aluminum does rust/oxide. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_does_aluminum_not_rust
  9. Taylor, I love your idea. Does any one know where I can purchase bamboo in Calgary?
  10. C$69.99 @ http://www.petsandponds.com
  11. The vertical side isn't too bad. It is the bottom that is hard as you need to reach in and try to do it without seeing it from the side. Next time I would skip taping the bottom, as no one would ever see the silicone on the bottom of the tank (I don't run bare bottom tank)
  12. If you setup both for bio filtration, you won't need to worry about killing off the bacteria culture when you clean one of the filter.
  13. Take a look at his web site. http://www.goldfishparadise.com/water/temperature.php Anything that is not agressive would work with goldfish.
