  1. welcome to alberta aquatica. there are alot of really helpful people on this forum. watch out that the molly and platy dont crossbreed, unless you dont mind weird colored babys
  2. thats all i could find out about them. sorry
  3. Lol. Monster fishkeeper said this. There are two "purple-spotted gobies", the are actually a related family, elotidae (sleepers and gudgeons), one is currently protected from collection. That is the Western spotted gudgeon (Mogurnda adspersa) and it gets around 5 1/2" The other is the more common Morgunda morgunda, also called a spotted trout gudgeon, it is a bit larger (7"). Both tolerate 9-20dH, 6-8pH, and can be kept at tropical temps but the adspersa prefers the mid 60s F. They will eat some algae but mainly eat any living creature small enough to get into their mouths Number1 http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=27593&stc=1&d=1146273872 Number2 http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=27594&stc=1&d=1146273872 I hope this helps.
  4. I just got back from vacation in Vancouver so I haven't Been able to use a computer in a week and a half. That's my excuse. I don't know what to say about the Facebook thing, because I don't have a Facebook account,to check that stuff out. But I have noticed a lot less activity on this site in the past couple months. This is the only forum I use daily, if someone can't help me here I goto bcaquaria or another one I was told of. I think life is complicated enough without having to check 5 different forums all the time. Anyways enough about me. I'm interested in what your Doing with these 40 gallons, you should post pictures all along the way, I'm interested in how your going to build the multiple level stands all around. And what kind of system you will have setup(filtration, waterchanges, lighting, ect)
  5. Nectarine is a good idea I'll try it. My friends scot and Brenda said broc is fine. They also mentioned the canned beans.
  6. Hmm that's a good question. I'll call my friend in bc that breeds alot of different kinds of plecos and ask.
  7. My wild caught zebra plecos like mango once in awhile. Also cucumber, zucchini, peas, spinach, And nls pleco formula is good for day to day. Anykind of live/frozen food(whiteworms, bloodworms, vinegar worms, ect)
  8. thats good to hear, keep us posted i want to see how these guys do in a pond. i have some floating pond plants if you want them
  9. apistos are a bit more aggresive than the other rams. how big of a tank were you thinking of setting up for these guys? there would probably be alot of aggression n this tank so you would need a big one. there would need to be alot of caves/driftwood/rocks/plants for them to hide in if one is getting picked on.
  10. i appreciate the help everyone. i have the breeding male and female apistos alone(besides the plecos), no more tetras in a 55 gal with lots of filtration(intake is covered with filter foam) this should be a great setup right?, well at least untill the babies get big and need to be separated. i hope their good parents
  11. Awesome thanks alot I'm getting the rummy noses out now. And the other female I took out awhile ago. Thanks alot everyone
  12. no this is the only forum i use at the moment, ill check it out thank you
  13. ok so lets add more info here i have added more driftwood and clay pots in the past couple days, and put in some taller/bushy plants even with ridicules amounts of hiding places the breeding pair wont stop pestering the other female euntous at the moment i have 1 male and 2 females in the tank(i took out the other female earlier) Im trying to figure out which female he mated with so i don't take the wrong female out. basically at this point i just need to know if the tetras and plecos can be in the tank with the fry edit- spelling mistakes
  14. anyone? i need help. should i take the rummynose tetras out? also i have 2 L143 leopard frog plecos in the tank. should they go in a new tank?
  15. I had 2 males 4 female wildcaught apistogramma euntous. Just got home,1 male 1 female are dead. And there is baby fish swimming around. I have taken out 1 female to prevent her from getting picked on. I plan on keeping the breeding pair in re tank with a school of rummynose tetras. This is their first time spawning, their too aggressive. What do I do? I put sponge filter on the filters intakes. And I fed powdered food, and live food. Need help thanks in advance.
  16. welcome to the forum.what kind of fish do you keep? yes, you should post some pictures of your tank in the photo section
  17. HOB(hang on back) filters work well and are pretty cheep, canister filters usually hold more media so you dont need to change it as often. cate is right,i use the recomended heater for my tank size, if something ever went wrong with the heater things could get bad fast.
  18. Yes all of my Mopani wood had this goo at one point. It diddent harm my fish,my mollys and plecos seemed to like to eat it. If you want to clean it, what I did was, when I did my water change I took a new clean brush and cleaned the wood in my buckets of dirty water.
  19. Welcome to AA. I'm jealous of your fish list Lots of really helpful people in calgary if you have questions
  20. Not sure what there worth, I got mine because he outgrew his previous home.
  21. 2xfx5 wouldent be bad. I usually run two filters on all of my tanks, like laurensdad said if something goes wrong with one the other keeps going. But I'm really good on filter maintenance, I have never had one of my filters stop, or had any problem with them for any matter. It's Down to this so far. Either 2X fx5 Or the Ehime pro 3 XL and a smaller Ehime running as well
  22. The eheim professional 3 XL is rated for 320 gallons, no messing around involved
  23. I heard they have been hard to find in the the hobbie in the past couple years. The one I have will out grow my 180 gallon so he's gonna get a new home And absolutely, if these sharks are properly taken care of they can hit 24 inches
  24. Those plants you mailed me are great thanks
