  1. can you remove thanks
  2. So summer is coming I work out of town and not home for 2 weeks at a time. my second level apartment faces south east with zero shade. it gets sun from 5 am till 5 pm or later. I run black out blinds on my windows and window fans. But it still gets vary hot in there. I did not set up a tank till September of last year so what i would like to know is a aquarium chiller need in edmonton? Right now my tank is about 76f i am going to cut it back to about 74f so the water has to heat up that little bit more. 86F is when most plants and fish are SOL right? I could do a diy fridge chiller or just buy one at a lfs for around 399-499$ or run a in room ac unit and have it cut in at about 78f. the room my tank is in is the main part of my place i would need to cool about 400 to 500 sq ft living room kitchen and hall. The bath room, store room and bed room doors can just be closed So do I panic at all? Do i get a chiller at lfs and save some power if so any reviews? Should i just fork out for a in room AC and cool myself and fish even when i am not home any reviews on in room AC I do not want something sticking out my window
  3. he is in Calgary your safe
  4. ok thanks i searched for spike moss and there is nothing that comes up in the archives
  5. Looks like you can't sell the kids. Doesn't say anything about renting them though. but that dose not help me set a price of something tough
  6. so were would it be best to ask about the price of goods we are thinking of selling. plants, fish ,tank, lighting, filters and other dry goods, oh ya and were do we sell kids at? or latest rent them
  7. this is all good but dose any one know were to get 4d KH water in edmonton? with out mail order?
  8. tank you for the scientific name for krazy glue. if 3 beers will not work for you acetone / girl friends nail polish remover will give you back your finger prints. With out picking at the glue just be done in the tank I think it would mess up your fish
  9. with edmonton water my last water test my PH was down to 6.8 i cut back the bps a bit then got on a plane to come to work my kh was about 7 if i remember right so from the charts it put me at about 37ppm co2 chart
  10. should not some sort of medical store have this stuff? making my own would work it is just baking soda and water. but how close can i get it with just a api test kit?
  11. http://greenleafaqua...h-standard.html is out ill check out the other site
  12. so i have a drop checker on hold right now at Aquarium Central for pick up when i get home from work. My understanding of a drop checker is you add a small amount of water with a 4Dkh and 2 drops of api low range PH blue. When your Co2 is below at 20ppm it will stay blue 30ppm it will turn green at and if it is over 35ppm it will turn brown. this is due to the fact the Co2 lowers your PH in your tank and it will indicate in the drop checker. What i would like to know is where can i find water with a known 4dkh in edmonton? 500ml would most likely do a life time. I know you can make it with tap water and baking soda or buy boiling the heck out of water. but thous methods are hit and miss. some times you can find indicator pre mixed. but it sounds ez to make your own with the right stuff from the site i snagged the photo from "Maintaining proper Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels in the planted aquarium is one of the most important factors in the health of the planted aquarium ecosystem. A CO2 drop checker is an essential tool for monitoring CO2 levels in the aquarium. The CO2 drop checker is a reservoir designed to contain an indicator solution and an airspace. The indicator solution is a combination of KH Standard / 4 degree KH (4 dKH) and pH indicator (Bromothymol Blue). When the drop checker is submerged in the aquarium, the carbon dioxide will outgas from the aquarium water into the airspace of the drop checker and will eventually be absorbed into the indicator solution. The carbon dioxide gas will seek a point of equilibrium between the indicator solution and the aquarium water. As equilibrium is achieved, the color of the indicator solution inside of the drop checker will change based on the concentration of CO2 in the aquarium water. If the indicator solution is green in color, then appropriate levels of carbon dioxide exist in the aquarium, and no action is required. If the solution in the drop checker changes to blue or yellow, then the CO2 levels in the aquarium are too low or too high, respectively.."
  13. When I am home ill give you my old one lol. If I can find it amongst all the fish junk clutter stuff in my place keep a eye out for it it is Blue and sonny

  15. that sucks i have a 55gl but it is in e town and i am in fort mac, rubber made tubs will work in a pinch go to wall mart or were ever and buy the biggest one they have or 2. or even the relay big trash can would save your @$$. good luck with the water damage you might want to call and get a carpet guy to come suck up the water or drag out your steam cleaner and start sucking
  16. I cheeped away at the pot to make the holes and slowly made the holes bigger. If you have a Drill you could drill a hole and then just brake away the pot as need be. The pot came from a droller store they brake vary easily so you do not want to hit to hard Krazy glue and reef glue are the same thing there is a krazy glue out there you can use under water from what i have been told i have not tried it though. I think it is krazy glue gel you might want to research it though. There is this stuff out there reef glue You can glue the moss to anything you want. I have glued java fern to the spray bar of the pump I use for C02 and to my coconut huts. A plastic light diffuser would work to make a wall or a tank background Co2 spray bar from cheep pump i use to brake up the Co2
  17. When I get home in a week i will have some spike moss for sale probably and I will post the 6 week photos of it it all went in the tank April 4th
  18. So when i set up my 75 gallon tank i krazy glued spike moss on to a flower pot that i was using as a cave 2 holes in the pot made with a hammer and some taping then a bit of sanding I did this when i was waiting for my help to show up to help lift my 75 gallon tank in about 20 min step 1 talk Tuan in to selling me his last 2 clumps of spike moss at aquarium central, I just let it float for a week or so step 2 go to store and get krazy glue step 3 get the pot out of store room scrub off old tank scum step 4 gather the moss in to a pail then lay out to dry just a bit step 5 dab glue on to pot and then lay sprigs of moss on the pot you just need to glue one little bit of each string of moss step 6 swear because you the pot and moss are now one step 7 remove finger drape the moss over the glue step 8 keep adding glue and moss remember the moss will FLOAT so work bottom up not top down like i did step 9 panic when the glue turns white because of the water you will not see it when it grows in step 10 finish adding moss as you see fit or till you run out step 11 have a beer and pick the glue off fingers step 12 have second beer to be safe that the glue is dry remove more glue from fingers step 13 place in tank and see the job you did step 14 have beer and admirer your handy work pick off more krazy glue ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER PHONE PHOTOS ">
