Sadly, you were right. The cichlids tore up the female crayfish during the night. :cuss: Have moved the males out to other smaller tanks now....what a shame, she was a big, nice looking crayfish.

Do you think this is just a particular Petsmart or all of them? Which store were you in? Where is the closest Petsmart to the deep south area? Thanks, I would like to check this deal out.

Hi all, I am really new to the hobby. After walking through Petland one day, my kids decided they wanted a couple of crayfish for our tank. The 90 gallon tank had about 25 assorted cichlids in it...Africans, Venustus and Convicts. Have not seen any problems yet amoungst the fish. But now I am worried about these crayfish. We bought 3, 2 males and a female. So far they seems to stay away from each other in the tank. But I have seen them go after some of the cichlids. The female is larger than the males, the males being both about the same size. Just wondering if anyone out there has some experience with these crustaceans, and what your thoughts are on the safety of the fish and crayfish being all together.

Hi all you aquaria hobbyists out there. I found out about this forum from a fellow that I purchased a tank stand off of. Seems as if it is very friendly and informative. I had tropical fish as a kid. Angels, Tetras, Gouramis that kind of thing. But I have been way out of the hobby for a really long time. Found out my son was allergic to dog saliva. Decided to get back into the whole fish thing. About 2 months ago, I started up a 35 gallon tank. Then a 90 gallon. And two weeks ago another 90 gallon. Have a variety of cichlids going. These 2 yellows have already bred. I have much to learn, and I look forward to reading some of the exploits of you more experienced people.
