  2. Tracked down the other I was searching for......
  3. Just a "HATS OFF" to all the volunteers that put on and ran the auction yesterday. You all did an amazing job! I had to leave early but was very impressed with what was available and how smoothly things ran. Next time I'll have a better feel to the "big money spenders" and what it will take to wrestle some of those purchases away from them... :shifty: Had to slip away around 12:40 or so, didn't realize just how much was going to be there and available! Had my eye on a "lone" anglefish looked lonely and needed a home...lol, any idea what he/she went for?
  4. Well, I ended up going with playsand and florite mixture. Placed some fert tabs in proximity of the plants.

    Filters

Used 2 Aquaclear 70's HOB on my 55, then switched them out for a RENA XP4 (left one 70 on for a month while xp4 established) fine tuned the spray bar so that my fish weren't "awash" in the current...kinda funny at times . Since have moved everything over to a 90 gal, and resetting the 55 up with once again 2 HOB's until a deal can be found for a rena xp3 or something similar. Both tanks are "over-filtered" but only clean once every couple months, top up water levels as needed and minimal (20%)water change every 2 weeks or so crystal clear water and NO issues with water chemistry (knock on wood). I so much prefer the canisters over the HOB's if for nothing else the "quietness". Both are an acceptable method though.
  8. My son-In-Law has registered, jumped through all the hoops signed in and is attempting to post and can't. We've attempted everything short of canceling account and starting over. Keeps giving him the error message (you can not start a new topic). Any hepl would be appreciated.
  9. Thanks for the idea Jason, I may just look at that instead.
  10. Thanks Guys, guess I'll take my list and head out shopping this weekend. Any suggestions for substrate? I have never had a planted tank but if I'm investing the time into a Discus tank figured "go hard or go home".
  11. LOL....thanks again.... I'll know wwho to "call" if I have any more problems....of any sort.
  12. Vallisneria, found it. I moved to a different computer, I could see "something" (little boxes on left) but no writing. New screen helped. All is reset. Thanks again.
  13. Kabuto, well we handle all the photography within the hospital in general. From Specimens to portrature of the Directors. I have since specialized in Ophthalmolgy so I do all the imaging for the department of Ophthalmology and nothing else. Sprucegruve.....so true, but makes for some "splainin" when I'm spending money...lol
  14. I know my eyes ae getting old, but nowhere in "my Settings" do I have an email/password settings option....
  15. Ok, have freed up my 55 gallon tank and thinking on setting it up as a planted Discus tank. Would like toi keep it as a "low light" tank, any suggestions on plants that will thrive under these conditions would be greatly appretiated.
  16. Has anyone had any experience with these filters? Comparing them with the RENA canisters for a new Discus tank I'm contemplating. Thanks for any and all imput!
  17. The younger members won't know where my topic title originates, but what the hey....lol Young 50, returning to Aquariums after YEARS of being out of the hobby. I instruct SCUBA, work as a medical photographer, and collect/restore classic vehicles....."I Know"....."Pick a hobby already" My new son-in-law has dragged me back into aquaria and all it has to offer.
  18. Having the same problem I have been assigned a new/temp password but cant seem to find "anywhere" to change it to a more "friendly" password.......13 digits is far to many for this old brain to remember.....
