I second the horsefaced loach opinion. They won't leave the sand to be ate. The bichirs will not catch them to eat them. You may think its ate, because you will never get to see it again, and when you do its like christmas and it'll come once a year... :tongue:

Peat will work w/o boiling it. Boiling it may however activate it somewhat (just don't boil for too long.) The best way to use it is to rinse it then set it in your filter like charcoal. The ph may drop to around 6 depending on the peat. Also it will not keep going down. It will stop at the ph buffering abilities of whatever peat is introduced. Replace whenever you replace your charcoal.

I'm going to have to make a road trip. Riverfront is in Calgary somewhere? What store is it? Do you know if they still have any? I will make the trip on the 15 if they do...

As with african fever I agree that it is quite common for some unfertalized eggs to turn white. Actually I don't think you will ever experience a batch that don't have a few white ones. I would not get too concerned unless you do get a fungus. Also even with some fungus I would not get hasty with chemicals unless the fungus get severe. Chances are you are harming the fry that don't have fungus more than the fungus itself would spread especially with good parents.

I just woke up today also to find a fish on the floor. Luckily it couldn't have been for more than 8 hours as when I put it back in the tank it was still happy as ever. Also lucky it was not an oscar, it was a albino clarias, she probably wandered the house before she started to get dry. Sorry for the loss, that was a real nice looking oscar.

Different personalities aside, the only time you WILL see aggression to other fish is if the rams start to breed. Otherwise they are quite peacefull and a great addition to any tank.

I am from lethbridge and currently have 4 tanks. I have mostly cichlids, also I have 6 pirrahna and a barracuda. I have many other assorted fish, Albino Clarias is cool. I breed convicts (purposely) for size and beauty. I also have a breeding pair of Red devils. If anyone has any questions for me give me a shout! :thumbs:
