Are there any species that are close in look and characteristics to the yellow perch that we have in Alberta?

Do you Keep your tanks full of water?
thefishdude replied to nevchewy's topic in General Aquaria Discussion
I keep my tanks pretty topped up, but I do like about 1-2" of space for the water to fall. Basically I like to be able to hear the water if I'm listening for it, but I don't like it when the sound of the "waterfall" overpowers everything else in the room - make sense?? -
Thanks for the heads up...

Very Nice Jardini - so it has taken 2 years to get from 8cm - 35cm? What size tank is he in? What foods does he eat? I am considering one in the near future and I would like to know how long it would be before I needed a monster tank for him. How does he get along with his tank mates?? Thanks a bunch Cory

Harpoon gun would be my guess...

Seems every time you set up a new tank there is a diatom outbreak - Lasts a few weeks to a few months and then goes away.... IME

Your water changes seem good... One thing I did forget to mention, as Dave reminded me - I decreased the daily light in the tank by 2 hours. Not sure if one thing solved the problem or a combination of all of them

SERENITY NOW - SERENITY NOW... There are only two things - OK maybe three things that give me serenity - fishkeeping is one of them...

Have you tried a razorblade? I had the same problem in my 90 gallon - just on the back wall. Scraped it off with a razorblade every 5 days or so, decreased the time between water changes, and changed the position of the light over the tank - it's helped thus far.... *keeping fingers crossed*
