  1. You guys are speaking a totally different language. I mean if I can grow plants with out a co2 system great. But if I have to start looking up msds and bentonite and everything else.. lol
  2. Makes sense. I was afraid I was going to need a pricey co2 system to do this. Down the road maybe but right now I'm just getting started with plants. Ive done FW and SW for a few years so its not like I'm new, just to plants. So any tips or tricks, suggestions etc let me have it lol.
  3. Thanks everyone. Would some cories, neon tetras and a handful of discus be suitable? Or is that a bad idea? Id like to have a couple show fish and some schooling smaller fish as well
  4. Yes 12k as I like the visible color spectrum I know its not ideal but it has dimmers and timers worked in to the mix so ya. I can always exchange them if its wrong
  5. So if I were to add some substrate under the sand what would be best something like flourite? And yes the tank is new not even running yet. I plan to have it going early october as I have some other projects on the go with it as well.
  6. As the title states, could I grow some plants in a 60g with out any co2 running on it? Also the substrate is sand I don't want a ton of plans just something that could kind of grow like a carpet over some sand and rock work. I've never done plants before and would like to try some. Any help is welcome I will be running ecoxotic Panorama Pro 12k white and blue Leds. Eheim ecco canister w/ inline heater and a small power head for circulation. Stock would be tetras and cories etc. Let me know!! Thank you
  7. If I could start over, which I will eventually, the tank would be custom from ground up. In wall 2 sides exposed 4' cube tank 2' high DIY LEDs all separately dimmable custom stand, sump, and frag tank plumbed in Algae Scrubber Skimmer rated higher then water volume separate QT/holding tank on separated system ATO system RO/DI with auto top off rigged in, Auto water change tanks Separate sump room so the sumb isnt heard nor seen unless to do maintenance I think i'm basicall describing my dream system.. lol I could go on all day

  15. Hey all, I was sent here from a few other forums as its more local to my area, I keep Saltwater fish as I just recently shut down my 75g Cichlid tank. My Saltwater experience is bordering on 1 year, and I recently upgraded my old 15g to a 35g 24x24x15 cube with sump, skimmer and AI SOL LED lights so the tank is about 4 months old now and doing well! Here is my most recent FTS I took of it. My Freshwater experience is 10 years and I have only ever kept cichlids and bettas I am hoping to find local coral sales or frag trades here as well as try to sell whats left of my 75g's equipment Shoot me a PM if you are looking for a Filter for a tank up to 80g as I have a marineland C-360 canister (2 1/2 months old) with a bunch of carbon and close to 2 years worth of filter floss for $120(plus a $20 mail in rebate coupon) I know your not supposed to post ads in you first post, but just letting you all know its available! I do regular frag trades in edmonton with members of Canreef.com and have an ever growing collection Of Zoanthids and favia, etc. Anyways Glad to be here, hope I can help in anyway I can with fresh or salty questions
