  1. Get a Maxi-jet 1200, the new ones that can be used as a powerhead or utility pump. Set it up as utility pump and get some hose that fits on the end and hose clamp it on there, drain to sink or outside.

I have yet to use a python that can drain 300 gph reliably, mine sure can't. I do use a python to fill though, I just really prefer the maxi for drains.

Thanks for the tip might be able to finish WC's before I run out of beer or a good game comes on.

  2. Not sure where this belongs but here it goes I have a 75 watt Eheim Jager heater in my Multi tank and now the little buggers have decided it doesn't fit in to their landscaping design so they have decided to bury it.I had it laying horizontal in the back of the tank for months but now they covered in play sand so I moved it to a back corner and hung it vertically and now they have managed to bury it again about half way up the heating coils, will this kill the heater?Never a dull moment in this tank, amazing how much sand they can move in a day.

  3. Just wondering as I'm new to Rainbows but I noticed Pisces has a sale on Iriatherina Werneri when I stop by to see it looked like the whole tank contained juvi. males maybe one female, did or has anybody else seen them and am I way off the mark in sexing these ? Most were approx. 1" but looked like they were all carrying the male filaments and fins.

  4. +1 for the root tabs on heavy root feeders( never tried Jobe's thanks jvision)I add them every three months Amazon & Melon swords love them.Try to get in on a group purchase and pick up the forty packs buying them ten at a time gets expensive.

  5. I have recently read some interesting on-line articles of people using H2O2 for treatment of bacterial and fungal infections in fish maybe some others on AA have some experience using this method.

I have successfully used it myself for treating BGA with no ill effects & I have begun to use it as a replacement for bleach for disinfecting equipment.

  6. I was curious because I am running co2 and some peat in the filter but usually the best I could get was PH7.5 even with some large pcs. of driftwood. No worries all plants and critters are fine just a experiment for future tanks would like to avoid the RO and wanted to see how far I could go with the K.I.S.S method.

  7. For a multi tank stand I used basically the same design as you used but my dimensions were 84" x 24" x 36" it holds three 20 gallons (24" x 12" x 16") but in the future when MTS takes hold again I can turn the tanks sideways to accommodate six tanks and still have lots of storage space underneath. At 36" tall it is a comfortable height for viewing and maintenance but to each their own.

  8. I have a few rams if you wanted them plus they're wild caught gbrs.

Thank you very much for the offer I may take advantage, but I have been told to complete some other renovations in the house before I'm allowed to play with the fish room.I think buying two more 20g may having been pushing my luck so now have three empty tanks.

  9. Update nine months and still going strong. So tried Crazy glue for attaching Java Fern to driftwood and some rocks works great there was some globs of cured glue in the beginning ( looks white ) but after a month was not visible, roots and leaves filled in nicely hiding all the globs. So throw out the string and rubber bands and keep a tube of Crazy glue gel in the fish room.
