Hey everyone. Sorry to bring back an old thread. I just came back from my long trip in Europe and like every vacation.... fish died after my cousin fed them too much. I am actually looking to stock my tank. I would love to have either a breeding pair of Brichardi or some fry. Let me know!!!

not all but some do. the 2nd closest to me does. I wish they could have filled my 5lb tank with co2 as it would have cost $8.99!!!! ...but their connections are not for standard cg320. Thats why you use air tanks haha. I used to play with young guns and thats all we used.

Are you looking for normal air or CO2?

Hey everyone. I have had my Brichardis since December and they don't seem to be breeding or even interested in breeding. It seems to me like I have all males since their tails are all long and trailing like someone told me males are. Can someone with experience help me because i would really love to see something breed in my new set up. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the replies. Tank has been basically running since December 15th. Ammonia is zero but nitrite and Nitrate levels are a little over 0

Not really an emergency but since my nitrate and nitrite levels are still kinda high I am wondering how to properly clean sand substrate in my African Cichlid tank. I keep on vacuuming it but it seems no waste is being sucked up. I always had gravel and it seemed to suck all the poop and leftover food. Please help. Thanks

Thanks everyone for the replies! I am not sure if I have chloromine or not since I don't live in Edmonton and my water source I am guessing comes from Spruce grove? I know that even the never hoods in Edmonton have different water since a couple of my friends noticed that moved. Who knows haha

fish seem to be fine. They eat normal except for the jewel cichlids. They are grey and seems like they might have float. Some fish like to rub on the sand but it doesnt look like they have anything on their skin. My test kits are brand new since I bought them a week ago. I have an Odyssea filter which is like the fx5. I know it's pretty good since my friends in the states have them and like them better than the FX5. I have no dead fish and dont have any plants at all. I do water changes and hope it will help, or just wait it out. Ammonia is at 0. No2 is at .3 or so.

The seller claims that the tank was running for two years. I wish I had not bought the fish with the tank since they have some internal parasite that I think might spread. The tank was bought on the 15th of december so almost a month since it has been running. I have a filter that filters 750 GPH but it doesnt seem to filter out my nitrates

Hey everyone. I am not sure if this is the right place for this topic, please move it to the proper place. I was wondering if anyone would recommend getting some bacteria off someone who has a mature freshwater tank for the bacteria. I have been testing my water everyday and doing little water changes each day and today I did a 40% water change.I have had high nitrates and nitrites and they dont seem to be going down. Every water change I add prime water conditioner. The tank was bought used and looks like no good bacteria were left to denitrify the tank. I went to a fish store to ask for some bacteria from their filter and the girl refused saying they don't want to be responsible if all my fish die from them helping me out. Please give me some advice. Thanks

I have been going in everyday as a kid into aquarium illusions since my dad's work was a few steps away. They always gave me tours of their store and I could see what was going on. They would always be busy cleaning or helping customers. They do special orders most of the time and will bring anything in. That is all I know. I have never been to the other stores listed. I have been to BA's on multiple occasions where they had dead fish in the tanks and would tell me the synodontis was sleeping on its side or belly up...

I have had bad experiences with Big Al's. They usually sell fish that are sick or bring in parasites. Best thing would be to always quarantine any fish that you buy, other than from Aquarium Illusions( that I know of) since they quarantine all their fish for two weeks.

It seems that one of my cichlids, a Kenyi has sunken belly. It has the symptoms such as long stringy white poop and a noticeable concave stomach. I was thinking of treating it with the Jungle Parasite but since I have a 90 gallon tank and no other smaller tanks I am not sure if I should just treat the whole tank in case others might have it. Any tips would be great. Thanks

I just decided to buy the fx5 and the Odyssea filter from the USA. My girlfriend will bring it here and both were a great deal. Free shipping rocks haha

I have already braced it and it doesnt squeek or budge haha. My dad and I even sat on it

I bought the tank used and I would rather brace it than let everything topple down onto a hardwood floor. Better be safe than sorry

My dad and I are planning to just put 2x4 supports in the stand and basically somehow make it sturdier. Honestly it looks like it will topple over like a deck of cards any day haha. I took all the water out into big buckets and ill get on it tomorrow.

Thanks guys. I do not have any experience with building stands or bracing them. What would be the best way and what should I use to go about doing so? I don't have enough money to buy one of those heavy wood stands or metal ones. I am just trying to make this one better and use it until I get enough to buy a nice one.

I just bought a 90 gallon used with one of those wooden stands I guess everyone buys. It is the particle board one actually. It seems REALLY flimsy. Are all stands like that? My mom is scared it will tip over and flood our basement. I am thinking of supporting it with my dad tomorrow because it does shake when the tank is wiggled.

Yea I have a AC 500 and a topfin from my other tank i tore down. I was thinking about maybe buying those canister filters on eBay from Singapore...? I am not sure if they are any good though. I might just stay with what has been tested
