  1. Persoanl choice. If you do not want to remidy the situation - return it. A.K.A. - PHYSICAL DAMAGE. The fin may grow back the damaged tissue. ... or develop worse. Only you can make the decision. HTH Smokey
  2. Good question RD. Hmmm .. If I were to say_ Petxxxxx was the best place in town to buy fish. that must just be my personal opinon {?]. As apposed to being paid/gifted to say the same . A thin line for sure. However; by the rules of the "PROVIDER" _ they can shut down this board, at any time they wish to. The GOLDEN RULE .. He who has the gold "RULES". :banned: HTH Smokey
  3. Ahhhhh ... only someone esle could answer that question. HTH Smokey

  5. Hahahaha_ your way ahead, good thinking. Looking very nice.
  6. Rule fo thumb for discus - 10 gallons of water per inch of fish.
  7. Is is too late to put a sheet of styrofoam under the tanks ?? A 1" thick piece is a good suggestion. Smokey
  8. 1 1/4" x 1/8" thick square tubing would do fine. It will strong enough for what you have in mind. Not very expensive. It is the labour [ if you have to pay] that costs. AND a very good idea; have adjusters installed. I use 1/2" n/c all-thread. Have them weld a nut to the bottom of the legs, cut 4 pieces - 6" long 1/2" all thread, weld a big 2" flat washer/nut for the foot. Add another 1/2" nut to lock everything tight. Place hockey pucks under the foot [ washer]. This will allow you to perfectly level the tank/stand. MPE. HTH Smokey

    Glass tops

Suggestion - use a hand held light meter / or the one on any camera - you can do a reading to see how much light is lost passing through any translucient material. Set the light/lamp 2-3 feet from the camera, do a meter reading. Place the glass/media in front of the light /lamp and take another reading. The light meter will show the difference. The glass you are refering to is called, I belive, diffuser glass. You may be surprised just how much light this style of glass does absorb. Any good local glass/windshield shop can supply you with glass cut to your dimensions. 3 or 4 mil. thick glass. HTH Smokey

cichlidkid - He said his local glass shop. The price is standard retail. If you want a free-be, keep on looking. I am sure you may find something. HTH Smokey
  12. ve6dii - quite an undertaking. The stand certainly looks like it will be up to carring the weight of a 230g unit. "Pictures_worth a thousand words". Thanks for sharing and keep the pics coming. Smokey P.S. - gotta love the wallpaper hope it doesn't scare the tanks occupants. :smokey: :smokey:

  20. Great, thanks for the new pics. How old are the fry, now ? Their egg sacks look healthy. I have to ask, how long did the eggs take to hatch ? Keep the pics coming. Smokey
  21. I went looking for such a contaniner, see Garhan's pic above . I thought I would build one. A perfect unit to have on hand!!. Guess what, I could not find one. Well, not one which had one flat side, large enough to hold lots of fry, removable screw lid, handle is not necessary, can be retro-fitted/modified, non-toxic, ... The looks one gets from store personal; when one talks about how many fry one can fit into a juice continer.. :smokey: Smokey
  22. DaNG, showing off again.... Great looking tank.
