  3. Havn't purchased the lens I asked about a few weeks ago.thought I'd try my luck with my Fuji before I spend to much more.Man does dirty glass ever magnify on a picture!! -01- Couldn't keep the crabro out out of the picture,so lets call it a yellow convict today -roll- -roll- I'm a bit embarassed to admit that out of about 500 pics I took over the past few days, these ones look the most fishlike!
  4. I recently purchased a new digital camera(to me),a canon rebel 6.3megapixal,I would like to take some closeup shots of my finned friends but not sure what lens to buy.Any suggestions?..Oh yeah, the money tree isn't producing well,so under $300.00 if possible.
  5. :welcome: You'll find lots of very helpful people here..
  6. Top of my list.....after I win!
  7. All accounted for and they all appear healthy.I don't know if it's a coincidense or not,but one of my Salvini has really colored up today.I wonder if the "heat wave" has put her in a egg laying mood?
  8. Wouldn't happen to be a PENNPLAX heater would it? I had the same thing happen to me. Pennplax bites the big one. Fish made it through fine. I am sure yours will too. A little scary though. No,believe it or not,it was an Ebo-Jager,only about 6 months old.I'll be looking for warranty on that pup!!
  9. Give two of em a bus ticket to the Crowsnest Pass!!
  10. Thanks,I have a 3 ft airstone in the tank and I just added a powerhead to help with air.I guess I'll just open one lid to let it cool slowly
  11. Came home today to a major heater malfunction, my 72g tank at 91F,all fish involved seem O.K. so far,I'm wondering if I should be reading them their last rites,or can they survive this?Fish are s/a and c/a cichlids
  12. Post what you're after, there are lots of breeders in Calgary that offer great fish at excellent prices..
  13. # 3 sounds like it could be a Crabro(bumblebee cichlid),it gets to about 8in and can be aggressive!!
  14. Beautiful....I hope the ones I got from you end up looking that good
  15. ........When your wife comes home with plans to build a 400 square foot home theatre room, and you TRY to convince her a 95000 gallon aquarium would be a better use of space!! :pff: :pff:
  16. We have 2 10g,20g,60g,and a 72g with fish now + a 90 in the garage waiting for a stand and another 90 on the way
  17. I'd say it's a Jag,your other fish have some bad days ahead when he grows!!
  18. Love em,I hope at least one of them gets as good looking as your female(mom),they've definitely aquired a taste for convict fry!!
  19. Can anybody tell me the difference between "Burundi" "Kigoma" and "Mbipwe" Frontosa, can they live together?
  20. Friday morning my Jags (Parachromis Managuensis) laid eggs, today I have "wigglers" -roll- about 300 by the looks of things, the parents are in a 60gal tank by themselves.I wonder if I should wait until they are free swimming and then cull some(feed to Festae fry) or leave them all with the parents and let nature take its course.Any suggestions will be appreciated.
  21. I started in the mid 80's with a 20g and 4 oscars, that mistake didn't take long to show itself!!! Got out of the hobby for a lot of years because my job kept me out of town lot's. Last year the bug hit again and now I'm considering an addition to the house just for a fish room!!
  22. How long before they start hatching?
  23. Last Sunday I made a trip to Calgary for some new fish and yet another aquarium,I purchased a Gold morph male Jaguar cichlid and a regular patterned female Jag from Sauron2,today I found about 300 eggs in their pot. Most of the eggs are a yellowish color but about 50 are white.Does anyone have any ideas on this? BTW Shawn, obviously a great job picking a male and female for me,the jewels also laid eggs on Wed. and the convicts produce more fry than waste I think.
