  1. We had an awesome time! My only complaint was we didn't come with enough cash. I am wondering if the landlord would be upset if we sold his house? (ha ha) Very professional and a very good time for all!!! Our day out had us come home with numerous treasures ........ now time to fimd homes fer em all! Dave
  2. It was fun! We bought some beautiful Bettas, Electric yellows, Bristlenose plecos, some Corydoras Barbatus, did I mention bettas? OOOh and a Pidgeon Blood adult Discus for $30.00! LOL! Some decorations and a few odds and ends. Met some people (nice to meet y'all) and saw a few we met before...Had an all around great time. Can't wait til the next one...note to self...bring more money! -roll- We brought in some Tetras and Guppies...couldn't believe what they went for! Was very pleased! Tammy & Dave
  3. As I am sure most of you are aware some people go with "theme tanks". During the auction I decided for my "Redneck Tank" I am going to go with a "drunken construction worker" theme I bought the tackiest ciramic car (and shark) I could find (I actually had to outbid a few people for it). I also got a (quote from Christian) "really funky pipe thing" as well as a sunken ship. Kevin was nice enough to donate a Jamaican beer bottle the other week. I am going to pick up a few more bottles and a few chunks of styrofoam to float around. Unfortunatley some &$#@!*()Y%*#@!!!! got my REALLY tacky pink and orange plastic plants (I am going to scour the local garage sales here in Forest Lawn for some this spring). So I am well along the way in collecting stuff fer my tank! I will keep everyone updated as time goes along First class setup at the auction today! Everyone was very professional! I am sure Christian (our auctioneer) is going to have trouble speaking after today! Nice 2 meet ya all! Git R Done! Dave
  4. I like trailur parks too! You will be able to figre out which fish I brought to the auction by seeing the grocery bags (I used duct tape to tape up the holes) Dave
  5. Ya all will recognize me by my picture. I am 4'3", very handsome and like ball caps Dave
  6. Generally speaking most houseplants do best with soil media which is 30% (they do not get this with compacted soil or in a bowl of water. Of course the exception is "marginals" which live in "swamp" type situations where the roots are in water and the "tops" are above the waterline. (This group includes bullrushes). You can get some of these types of plants from the local garden centre. I have also seen some types of bamboo grown this way (check out your local Chinatown - this seems to be an oriental tradition). I experimented with spider plants and a few others being completely underwater and generally speaking they survived between a few days and months. None thrived under these conditions. Dave
  7. I took a winter job working for a restaurant supply company which serves the oriental market (Chinese, Vietnamese, Laosian etc) and I regularly pick up live crab and lobster. They get put into a styrofoam box and scratch at the sides during their journey (from the seafood shop back to the warehouse). They then get forwarded to Banff I agree you would probably need a chiller to keep these critters going. Dave
  8. I have a tank with some serpae's, black skirt tetras, gold skirt tetras and a few rosy barbs. I had some dojo loaches and weather loaches in with them but the fish harrassed and chewed the fins off my loaches! :boxed: What other bottom feeders could I try with these guys? I have kuhlis, upside down catfish, clown loaches & some bronze cories that I haven't tried for fear they will be chewed too. Any ideas? Tammy
