  1. Thanks for your replies. I heard about Neil, and he's got a pretty good reputation. I'm waiting for a quote from aquarium illusions, so I guess we'll see what the start up point is. It is going to be a show piece, so it has to look good. If anyone has anymore information please let me know. Where is Concept located and phone number? I haven't heard about them before.
  2. I want to set up a new tank. I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of the best place for price and quality, around Edmonton? Please share.
  3. Look up plants here, we're doing a group order, saves you on shipping http://cichlaholic.com/pdf/April%2026.pdf
  4. 110 gallon, in total 13cichlids, and about 10 other fish. The cichlids are young, I have a grown ebjd and a severum in there as well. I think that acei is just misbehaving.
  5. Interesting... I dont know then, I will probably have to get rid of him sooner or later then! Hes bothering my ebjd too. The ebjd is like 6" and the acei 3-4"
  6. Eh, that may be the problem, I have a 24" high tank and its covered. I've never seen such large bamboo either. Do u know anyone selling amazon sword? I've been wanting to get my hands on one for a while.
  7. Lol, I dunno. But I never knew it can grow completely submerged.
  8. Do u have any acei? I have just introduced a peacock into the mix and the acei won't leave him alone, chasing him every chance he gets.
  9. I just wanted to say the set up is gorgeous. Wow is the word. You put in a lot of work into this and it shows. I wonder what you'll do if u decide to move Thanks or sharing.
  10. Can u suggest where to buy bamboo? I've never seen it at LFS Best place to get things that are not 'fish store normal' would be garden centers or home stores. Had seen actually at Home Depot yesterday. The straight length ~ 20" for a buck. So, let me clarify this. Is that The bamboo sticks that I've seen in glass containers with rocks on the bottom? Is that what you're referring to?
  11. How are your peacocks doing with mbunas?
  12. I like the look of the amazon sword but haven't had any luck finding it, any suggestions? The plants are still doing ok, not dying yet. The java fern is pretty much a salad bar for the albino white. I think it all depends too on the type of cichlid, I have a few different ones in my tank, and the only one that seems to like the leaves is the albino. Ha, go figure.
  13. Can u suggest where to buy bamboo? I've never seen it at LFS
  14. Thanks, I will take a look though the pages u have suggested.
  15. I bought pool filter sand, it doesn't need washing, no cloudiness at all
  16. Just a suggestion for others, buy pool filter sand in any of your local pool store. I paid 16$ for 50lbs sand. It's already clean, no need to wash at all.
  17. I currently have a tank with cichlids, and after looking around was told not many plants will do well with the fish I have. I love the look of a natural planted tank, can u recommend any plants that will do good with cichlids? And what's the best place to buy them? I bought anubias and java fern. Anubias seems to be doing good, but java fern is getting nibbled on. Any suggestions?
  18. Quick question, everyone has such an extensive list of plants, the LFS doesn't sell all those varieties, where do u all buy your plants?
  19. Oh and one more thing, all other cichlids leave the rainbows alone, but the acei is also nabbing at them. Must be the more aggressive cichlid.
  20. I have an electric yellow, acei and albino white, as well I just introduced a peacock in the tank who is quiet larger. It seems that my yellow doesn't care, albino is quiet passive, but the acei is chasing the peacock. They are still all young, I do like all my fish and hope if they grow up together they can learn to get along.
  21. Anyone know of a place where one can buy some peacocks?
  22. A suggestion maybe, community fish do well with ebjd, I have rainbow fish and my jack Dempsey doesn't care about them!!
  23. I have a Dempsey with a gold severum, the severum is the dominant one. I also have rainbows and african cichlids. They all get along so far. Everyone kinda minds their own business.
