They look like carinotetradon lorteti to me? But that's just from googling pictures and guessing? Maybe they are a different type? I just bought them as "red eyed puffers". They are maybe an inch long if that right now.

Just wondering if anyone knows if they are the same color as juveniles, or if they are easy to distinguish m/f right away?

For just a random opinion... We have had light tan sand in our larger cichlid tank for years, but recently started a new smaller tank with black gravel. I think the fish colors really pop more against the black gravel-but we also notice their orange poop really well too... The fish have always looked colorful against the tan sand, but theres not as sharp of a contrast as there is with the black. Ie- yellow on tan vs yellow on black. I'm curious too if anyone has an answer if natural habitat helps or not.

Which brand do either of you use? The green killing machine that is 24 w says its good for tanks up to 120g (400l/hr). Should a uv sterilizer be doing more or less? The price we saw seemed reasonable for the unit, but we don't want to just get that one if there are better units/brands to look at. Thanks

Does anyone use this on their freshwater tank? And if you do, what benefits do you actually see or feel you get? After a resistive ich infestation, we were told to think about a uv sterilizer... Thanks.
