  2. www.swampriveraquatics.com is an excellent place for endlers
  3. Through years of selective breeding( ie. inbreeding ) the guppy is actually a very fragile fish. The slightest difference in water chemistry is enough to do it. Todats guppies have weakened immune systems, more genetic flaws and are overall less hardy. Thats why so many people have a hard time selling guppy fry, you can match water conditions almost perfectly and still lose a whole batch. A few years back my neighbor gave me some guppies ( excact same water) and within two weeks .... no guppies. If you are really interested in guppies I suggest endlers livebearer, look a lot like a wild guppy but with more intense colors and are more hardy
  4. You could also add some filter feeding shrimp ( vampire, flower, singapore) as they feed on the algae spores in the water.
  5. I used to have a 12 inch comet in a 55g. There was also a blue lobster in with him . one day I got home from work and was going to the tank to feed him . He was at the edge of the glass waiting for me. when I got about a foot away ( food in hand) he spit the lobster shell against the glass and swam awa and would not agknowledge me unil the net day. I guss I was too slow with the food for his liking
  6. for any body in edmonton who uses compact flourescents in their 10g the dollarama store in millwoods towne centre is selling 11watt compact florescents for a dollar. These are great for a low light set up. I put some in my tank and the plants are growing better than with the $20 ones from big als
