  7. When I built a house 8 years ago, I talk to a structural engineer and he advised me to spend the extra $500 and put in an laminate beam to support a 230 gallon on main floor. He told me that I could probably go without, but as the house ages, could be problems later. This tank was not going to be on/against a load-bearing wall.
  8. Yes, quality is important at that size. I bought mine from AquaGiant for $900, no problem except holes are in metric and had to wait 2 months. My buddy bought his at Riverfront in Calgary, built by Mitch, he paid 850, two years ago. both tanks are 280 gallons.
  9. Just wondering, if Aquagiant could cut the glass, why wouldn't they fix and sell it? But that's great if you can fix it. :smokey:
  10. Hey Boom, you make me sick! LOL!! What an awesome project you have going on. I am sure that most people here have their eyes wide open and checking this site even more frequently to see if you have any updates. I have put my project on hold till you finish yours, need to see what else I can screw up on. You obviously have done you homework and have a great set of hands. Keep the pictures coming. I have a small project if you are interested.
  11. Hey Drydock and Boom, Thanks for sharing your ideas, I am setting up my first sump as well on my 300 gallon. Drydock, any pics of your setup. Thanks
  12. Every time a have to move a big tank, the guys at Crystal Glass have been very helpful. They let me pick them up at days end and have them back before they start work the next day. I usually buy them some coffee and some timmies.
  13. Hey Rainmaker69, that's a great site, Thanks.
