  1. Well i just replaced my fluval with eheim, the fluval was leaking every time we had to turn it off. I was getting worried that if we had a power outage and we were not there, the damage that could happen if the fluval leaked (it was one of the filter on the 130gallon tank. So far it works awesome! It is rated at 185gallons, so i figured it would be a good second filter for the tank. i also have had no problems with rena canisters. Just a bit off topic but... Does anyone no how to seal the rim on a fluval so it don't leak? Every time i turned it off, i would have to open the canister and rewet the band around it with water. Chantell
  2. Thanks Degrassi! I missed that, too many kids for me to think (There are 5, running around screaming). Needless to say they are all drinking cranberry juice! Chantell
  3. This is the recipe i use, i get about 2 weeks or less from this. 2 cups sugar 1/4 teaspoon baker's yeast a pinch of baking soda I haven't really tried any other recipes though. Would be interested in hearing the recipes for those who get 3 weeks, also for the big cranberry jug (4L). Chantell
  4. Thanks for the advice!! Afew of the eggs have tails on them now, so exciting!! Chantell
  5. Well all my waiting payed off, the albino corys were at it again yesturday, i manage to get alot of eggs (she laid a pile on the sand), and adding the fungle stuff, so am now waiting for them to start hatching in the container. I have a 2g that has a huge sponge filter (i bought this last time they were at it), it is the only tank that is free. I am just wondering if this will be big enough, or should i look to get a bigger tank for them?? I will be getting a bigger tank for son's room (between 33g and 55g with stand), so i could use the 18g gallon. The problem with this tank is its shape and height. Thanks, Chantell
  6. I was doing a water change and found this in the 10g... This is the best pic i can get of it, it is about 1 inch long. It is alive, has about 4-6 legs and is creeping me out! I thought it was a piece of plant, and went to fish it out... Needless to say, hubby fished it out for me. Chantell
  7. Thanks, that would be great! I use my well water for all the tanks and ect.., don't have a ro system. I haven't seen any iron staining and i have been adding conditioner with each water change. Chantell
  8. I am going to get my well water tested but i was curious how many people have well water and if they use a conditioner to treat the water or not. Thanks, Chantell
  9. If you go in with cash and are willing to negotiat (sp?), you can get a deal. Hubby went in, with cousin and father-in-law, and managed to get my tank for $300 less then the posted price. Chantell
  10. I have these in my 10g planted tank. I do not feed these fish because they eat these worms, plus all that is left are 3 fish in this tank. I have also assumed that they were related to the flies on the surface of the water (they look like aphids, but i have also seen dead house flies in the hood). Chantell
  11. Well... My nephew came over yesturday, and dumped the container in the tank. I was so excited, i already had a few fry and was waiting for the rest, but now they are gone. Oh well, hopefully the fish will have more eggs (I went out and bought a sponge filter, pump ect...). I should have closed the door to keep him out, he has killed fish on me before. Chantell
  12. Interesting that you say that because i was wondering if it would work with the AquaGiant canopy, which is what i have. My hubby did abit of cutting to get the fluval 404 to fit in the canopy. Ya the fx-5 would be the third filter in the tank, so incase something happens.... there are still two going. Chantell
  13. Where do you find this? I was at 4 different lps today on the westend of city and could not find it. The closest i came was "Mardel Maroxy for True fungal infections of fish and eggs". I put one drop in the container because i was not sure about it. Thanks, Chantell
