New to Alberta Posted January 14, 2007 Report Share Posted January 14, 2007 (edited) I have actually tried this, only top ups experiment with a 15 gal, one betta only planted tank. The result was a sickly looking betta with faded color and fins. Can't say for sure why this didn't work out. All I know is when I resumed water changes the improvement to the fish was enormous. There are probably other water quality factors that we haven't quite figured out yet that plants alone don't take care of.
