chenimen
I'm planning on upgrading my 33gal setup for a 50-66gal setup w/ sump. I would like to include a sump into the new design for the usual benefits but am concerned about noise since the new location for the tank will be in a common area. Every tank + sump design I've seen is noticeably much noisier than a usual setup with a HOB filter or canister. Googling on the topic doesn't seem to come up with anything relevant. Is it possible to have a quiet sump? What are the noisiest components?
jvision
Check out some of the SW sites like CanReef or Reef Central. There are many sump designs that their owners say are silent.
