JasonD
Hi All, I just inherited a whole pile of ledge stone cultured veneer that I thought would make a great backdrop for my new 90G tank. I am just wondering if there is any problem using these man made stones in a fish tank? Is there something I should be treating them with to be safe? Any opinions would be great! Thanks in advance, Jay ***This actually should have been in the "General section" ooops...*** Edited June 6, 2007 by JasonD
DCallele
I discussed these with a local supplier and he said that they would dissolve within a few months... However, yours may be a different brand so if it was me, I would put one in a pail for a few weeks or months first to see what happens. Then, if that works, try adding a fish that you don't really like (just in case there is something nasty in the water).... David
JasonD
Actually when I picked them up, there was about 15 pieces that had been sitting in a garbage can full of water for probably 2 years. I was wondering the same thing, but on inspecting them they had not deteriorated at all.
Vallisneria
I'd still put them in a bucket and test to see if they raise the ph.
