what is your sg? if it just a tbsp. per 5 gallon...it is fine. as long as it is not brackish...i dont think those fish are brackish fish.

gotta watch out though, at first my SAE scraped the algae of the side of the tank but once they got bigger, they prefer latching on the side of my other fish! mine got fairly aggressive too, well until it tried to latch on the side of my fang's puffer...puff did not like it too much and bit him in half!

I beleive what you had was a CAE(chinese algae eater) not a SAE(siamese aglae eater). CAE have sucker mouths and can be aggressive and attach themselves to other fish. SAE have regular mouths(no suckers) and are unable to attach themselves to other fish.

So when buying a SAE make sure you are getting the real deal. There are flying foxes, false SAE, and CAE all being sold as True SAE.

I'm not sure how they tolerate salt. How come you have salt in your tank anyway?
