RickJ
I just received a 34 gal tank, it came with 3 filters, AquaClear 300, AquaClear 200, and an AquaClear 150. The 300 needs some repairs to the impellor/pump, so I'm wondering it it is better to run the 2 smaller filters or get the large one fixed and just run it?. I'm a bit of a newbie as I have not had fish for over 25 years, somewhat familiar with the chemical issues, but certainly more information is available now then when I first was in the hobby. stribbelldk
Personally I would run the two filters. If one happens to crap out on you at least you got time to replace one. If you only had one filter you only got hours. Same with heaters. Derek
firestorm
I would do the 2 smaller ones as well. Load one up with bio media.
byte
The motor from the AC200 might just fit onto the body of the AC300. The flow may be less than the AC300 had, but the extra room for media is a bonus. I would run 2 filters and then stagger the cleaning dates of the filters by a couple of weeks. snaggle
I find that having two of ever thing for you tank is better then one. If one craps out then you still the other to keep thing going until you can fix it.
RickJ
Got the 300 Working, was just the impellor. So then my question is, which 2 of the 3 filters should I run on the 34 gallon tank? I will setup a 10 - 15 gal quarantine tank in the near future so I'll need one of the 3 for that tank. snaggle
Run the 300 and the 150 on the main tank and save the 200 for the QT tank.
