Majestic_Aquariums
Our XP3 has developed a leak where the power cord comes out. Pretty good leak too! This filter has been running since the day we bought it. It hasn't sat idle, thus the seals have not dried out. Anyone know the best repair method? Should we use silicone, epoxy or ABS glue (the product, itself, is ABS)? Silicone does not really seem like the way to go. We have found that silicone can let you down on occassion this way. Let this be a heads-up! You may want to keep an eye on yours. We actually had quite a bit of water on the floor as a result of this. If anyone has ideas... PLEASE let us know. Thanks! :well:
chloeclose
Do you still have your manual that came with it? If not, I can type out here what it says about that...
Majestic_Aquariums
We still have it, but ours says nothing about a leak from the power cord. Does yours say otherwise?
chloeclose
It says, If water is leaking from where the power cord passes out of the motor housing: 1) Make sure the filter is no more than 55" below the water level. If it is deeper, raise the filter. 2)Check the hoses and make sure they have not been cut too short or stretched to far creating tension on the Quick Disconnect. If they are too short or have stretched, change them. It also has a warning in red in the setup instructions to make sure nothing (ie. too short hoses) is causing tension on the quick disconnect valve because the filter will leak. HTH! Majestic_Aquariums
Thanks! Our manual must be a bit out of date. That's good information to know. -ham- Edited March 29, 2005 by Majestic_Aquariums
Nandopsis
I don't know the exact mechanical properties of the XP-3, but i know how to fix it. Buy a Eheim.
Majestic_Aquariums
Well... :poo: We'd love an Eheim. Care to donate one? We'll even trade you for a piece of s**t Fluval 403 (which by the way we are removing from our ad). Good one though! -roll-
