  1. Its just a thought, but there is another option avail. now, its a "floating" floor similar to laminate, but the surface is actually real wood, and can be re-finished, as many as 3 times. Quite moisture resistant, as the substrate is a plywood as opposed to partical board. Peices come in 8' sections, so its maybe a little more difficult to install in some ways, and will cost a little more. The surface wont be QUITE as durable as laminate, (don't put cigs on it like RD!! -roll- ) its 3/4" thick, so that may be an issue. Even laminate should be fine, as long as you don't have a major flood while you are gone, and water gets underneth..then you are in trouble, and will have to tear the laminate out..possibly the hardwood too, should you go that route.
  2. yeah, still here, arms a little sore, but still in tact..note to self..watch out for flying router bits! Take it easy Jonah!
  3. Hey thats one KEWL kitty girl!!! Nice pics Jonah!
  4. Worst case, you can look into a rental place that rents suction cups for appliances. Glass ones, you will be looking @ alot of money to buy. As for the floor..you most-likely have more chance of cracking the bottom of the tank IMO, than having the tank fall through the floor. Get it level, you should be o.k..Ive seen tons of mail where people get a big tank, but don't get even support under it, then break the tank, then get a quote on a stand.
  5. Great looking dog Connie! What, not enough tanks to keep you two busy? At least you can take this one with you on road trips!
  6. Nice. I like the second pic. Hey, didnt you just tell me NOT that long ago you hated cats when I needed to get rid of one? Think you did.. -roll- Shes a nice one though.
  7. Hey, thanks for the kind words Neil, of course I appreciate it, and for all you others as well. Neil waited WAY too long..sorry bout that! ANd..Keep up the smart @$$ comments Kim, you just may get bumped to the back of the line.. -roll- I know my pics sucked..but if you want really good pics, just shout..they seemed to be a hit in Texas
  8. Skip the PC fan IMO, If you are going to Princess Auto, look for a 4", 120V fan, these are what I use on canopies, they run quiet, move good air, and are easy to install. If you look, they very may well have pre-wired cords (I think the cords are a buck, and just plug directly into the fan.) Fans will be $15/each. Sorry, no time @ the present to build for you..but I am looking into serious alternatives for stand production, I have FINALLY gotten a contact in Calgary that does top-notch workmanship. I will have to finalize more yet though proir to passing on his name and number for the time-being, until I maybe will have the opportunity to continue the stands in the future. P.M Tanker-his canopy is done very well!
  9. thats one SLICK lookin turtle..must be the hand-feedings. I hear hes kinda spoiled...haha!
  10. Nice work! You should set up shop and get busy-i will send you referrals too! And, sounds like you are in the right town as well-hell, according to the guy @ Aquarium Illusions up there, he has a custom bowfront glass tank, hmm.maybe 140 gal..told me he sold the TANK ALONE for 20K! That kind of sales-hell, your Wedding will be paid for in no time buddy! (oh, then he told me thier 460 gal. display w/corals was worth 85K..I had heard all I needed to by then.. Nice work-cool to see the finished product!
  11. Nice tanks! Glad to see you are livin up to the name there Neatfreak! I have space for the 72 bow when you move, o.k? -roll-
  12. Was a great time-got some bettas..haha-sorry bout that Tom! Kinda caused him to pay a lil more than what he was expecting maybe. Good to see all the familiar faces, and those of you I STILL didnt catch up with, sorry-next time maybe. Great day tho.
  13. No worries on my drivin..(tell my Mother that..)last min plans are the best-on my way Neatfreak!! see ya in 20..
  14. Hey thanks for the plug Jonah..but to be honest, I don't really have alot of time for free advice even..if I don't get caught up with the prior oders I have, Neil for one may burn down my house, he has been looking at his 125 gal (brand new) tank sitting on his living room floor for what.., 6 weeks? Thanks for the patience guys, I will fix ya up soon!
  15. Yeah, Angel my A$$! Just found this thread..sorry..slackin. As for the name, well, my name is Robert, she and fam. call me Bob (Dad's name too) grew up as Bobby, customers started calling me Robert, then Rob, as long as you don't call me what my ex does, I'm cool! So yeah, whatever works! Yeah, she is funny though folks, so go ahead and poke at her..I dare ya!
  16. Another good one! Not that it applies to either of these examples, as they are plenty storng, but I think it is rather important to have FULL support at each leg. The way these ones are constructed, in theory you are relying on the shear strength of the screws to hold. Both of these could hold a tank, but for any others considering a DIY, little stuff like that could become important
  17. Well Neely, wishin you lived around here, cause from the looks of it, you are an accomplished craftsman! As for entering the market, I say giver', as it is out there- and just a FYI, I would NOT take it personally, I am up to my..well you know..I never started Majestic to make a million,(my prices don't reflect that, however) but enjoy the hobby, and help out where needed, and get to be kinda creative. I am thinkin I have kinda seen your design..somewhere..maybe not? Just kidding, it is a huge from of flattery to think it resembles some of mine! (the Imperial has always been top seller)
  18. And they say I'm a smartass? Nice work! Can't wait till you get that 230 on a stand, bet it will be good! One thing I have found, spruce tends to have a fairly high moisture content, so it may not hurt to try and let it "cure" to room conditions for a little while..maybe 2-3 weeks? You may find that clamping them together to avoid warping would be an asset. But you should consider re-arranging them once a week to hopefully even out the moisture content in all boards.
  19. Ahh. Tanker..I would milk it for all it's worth! Gotta love the in-laws! As for the stand, well..it doesn't sound like too bad an idea jvision..but how is the desk constructed? It can be a big difference between a nice tank, and one that's on the floor. (we won't discuss how I know that.. ) Most likely, plywood would take care of you in that size tank, you aren't planning on carrying the load weight too far..but it can happen, and I have seen it happen..where the tank, or desk breaks.
  20. Very NICE! I don't think I would try to go lower than $750OBO-it looks like it would include all that is ness. Even that won't re-cover your expenses..
  21. Hey Dave, Send me a PM, and i will do my best to pass on a few ideas, and pics of what I have done in the past to hopefully help you out, o.k?
  22. the thought kinda scares me...even if the plywood supports, and the stand WILL hold, I have a feeling it will be awfully wobbly..
  23. I would just like to publically state something here if you don't mind. In regards to the "issue" that brought up this investigation, I hope that can be solved one way or the other. It was not my intent to start too much trouble on it, but rather bring the sit. to light for everyone. So yeah-perhaps PMs. may have been a better solution. But as a member, I appreciate reading the facts of the matter on some dealings; pms. don't allow for that. I as well appreciate all the offered help I have recieved behind the scenes to get the situation dealt with. Not only Mods. and Admin. but other members as well-thank you. The member that tops the list would be RD. I don't think that Neil was trying to "stir the pot" by questioning "visual proof", but rather trying to understand how that is achieved, and what all is required. So, in some ways-maybe we all read between the lines here. It is easily done-without talking to someone directly, posts can be mis-read. It is unfortunate, and I can understand where this could happen-but in all honesty here-if Neil gets a warning, for the record-set me up with one as well! I am not trying to start problems, and I am not angry with this site, or any of the members, mods. or admin. I just think we should set the record straight here-as I believe it was my issue that got the ball rolling so-to-speak, and am more than willing to take responsibility to that. Thank you.
  24. Personally, I would like to see the Vendor Review return. So many members here have been more than generous with their comments towards my product. Sometimes to the point where I get the feeling they feel obligated to comment-and that isn't the case whatsoever for me. There have been a couple incidents where Majestic has been involved in somewhat negative experiences. (and quite frankly, if I don't get caught up here, there may be more to come...thanks to all for their patience... ) These aren't productive, and in both cases I believe they were handled incorrectly, one on my part, the other..well-water under the bridge-doesn't matter. So, if I fit the John Doe description, my apologies. I do have to thank the admin. and mods. for doing all they can to recover any product-it really isn't up to these people to do so, and I do not expect them to do any bill collecting for me. As well, formal apologies for making a direct link between any members, and moderators. So, If this is it to the Vendor Review, it would be dissapointing. So many products, NLS for one, and retailers, esp. Gold Aquariums IMO would suffer; as I cannot recall a negative comment directed to either. Thank you.
  25. I know it's Sat. night and all, but maybe we shouldn't go there bud.. :bang1:
