Fishful Thinking
I am thinking of getting a bigger tank, 96 long x 36 wide x 24 tall. Would this footprint be big enough to successfully maintain motoro rays and/or arowanas long term? Thanks.
boydo
That would be excellent, then add sump filtration and auto water chnager and all you need to do is feed. My only suggestion would be if you could get 30" deep you could have some room for some mid level dithers. Best of luck!
RDFISHGUY
That's the same footprint I am thinking about. 30" is tougher to get in and clean but it does afford other benefits like greater water volume and enables you to add more fish or do lower volume water changes. It doesn't matter how big you go you'll always want a bigger tank down the road....maybe not after you move it in. Good luck!
RTG_Gerry
If you can go four feet, that would be even better for rays! Otherwise, thats the foot print I'm working with and it's great!
skynoch
If your only keeping male motoros chances are this tank will work for life. If you want females then you may run into problems in the future if your ray grows to max size. I would have to agree with RTG that 4' wide would assure a lifetime even for a large female. 3' wide would probably work. I'd also go with a 30" depth.
