divacowgirl
Love this helpful forum. I have sucessfully wintered my koi, and goldfish for 4 years now, but always am unsure as to when to bring them in and also when to put them out in the spring. Usually I leave it too late in the fall, and they are very hard to catch. How soon is too soon in the spring? When do you put your fish out in the spring? When do you bring them in in the fall? Thanks for any and all help.
jvision
You can leave fish in until ice forms... and until it leaves. The real trick is to make sure you don't feed them when the water is 55F or less.
gobies et al
I used to bring my koi in about the middle of September. That gave me time to drain, clean and cover my pond before it was too miserably cold.
MMAX
Shut my 50gal header pool down for the year today, all 5 of the fish will spend the winter in a Rubbermaid tub in my garage.
