Baos
Just wondering if anyone connected the two? I have a black dirt substrate tank and my intake seems to get clogged a lot. I have the big als circular sponge filter that is intended for an air bubbler.
Jaykit
I'm not sure how you have it set-up currently but you could try raising your intake higher up from the substrate and that would eliminate how much dirt it takes in. timbruun
I've used an old aquaclear spong cut to fit. Pretty much any sponge will work. I've tried a cutout of pantyhouse but that seems to clog up too quickly if you have anything floating in your tank.
Northranger
I use prefilters on my Eheims, just make sure the sponges are large enough to ensure you don't restrict your flow too much, change/rinse the pre-filter fairly often in your tank water removed during your weekly changes.
