Dave
So I've had some glass aquariums sitting outside over the winter underneath tarps. Would these still be viable aquariums to fill with water? The silicone doesn't seem brittle.
jewels
I split a lower brace over the winter. Not sure how that will turn out. All you can do is fill up , I would recommend outdoors Give it a burst !! :smokey:

SourceAquatics
the cold WILL make the silicone dry and make it more susceptible to cracking and and thus the possibility of bursting a seam become MUCH higher. Id recommend trimming the silicone down (but don't pierce through it) them clean and re caulk the seams.
arixonbarnes
I have kept tanks outside for the past several years - both glass and acrylic - and none have leaked. I store them leaning with the open end pointing down at an angle so that the water can't sit in them and freeze and break the glass or distort the acrylic. It does not seem to affect the tanks and I believe silicon is impervious to a very wide temperature range.
rED O
I kept a 70 gallon outside for 16 months. Its running now with no leaks. It has been running for almost a year. I don't think you should worry.
