nathan
I've got 4 convicts in a 60 gallon tank. To make this easy, I'll go with shade and sex. I'm only concerned about 3 of them, so ignore the fourth. We have... Light grey female Light grey male (younger/smaller) dark grey male (older/bigger) Light grey male and light frey female have already spawned once. The fry hatched out and both parents took care of them. Now, dark grey male is showing light grey female attention. Light grey female mainly stays with light grey male, but sometimes swims over to the other side of the tank with dark grey male and looks like she's trying to spawn with him. Question is, Are convicts not monogamous? If I were to separate a pair, should I go with the light grey pair, or the light grey female and the dark grey male? I'm hoping that this made sense. JORG
It's been 20+ years since I have kept convicts but I'm sure you can pick out the best ones and they will re-form a new breeding pair. If I were to choose a trait I would go for straight dark bands on the males and nice red bellies and straight dark bands on the females
dunl
JORG is right, should be no problem having them pair up again.
