heff Posted March 1, 2011 Report Share Posted March 1, 2011 I've noticed a rather large root against the glass coming from what I think is a melon sword and it's going toward the bottom corner of my tank. Has anyone ever pinpointed a tank leak or burst from a plant root digging into the tank seam? Should I not even chance it and snip this sucker off? jvision Posted March 1, 2011 Report Share Posted March 1, 2011 I've had my entire substrate root bound once by huge swords and thick forests of Crypts. Not once did they push into the seams - they usually just went up and stuck out of the substrate. Some of the roots turned green - I'm guessing that when they are in the light they go photosynthetic.
