Okotoks Posted April 3, 2011 Report Share Posted April 3, 2011 I am curious as to the legality of removing rocks from non-national/provincial park areas. I do alot of flyfishing in the creeks west of Okotoks in the rockies and see tons of rocks that would be gorgeous in my cichlid tanks. If I took a couple from the stream bed, is there any legal repercussions? I am 50/50 on doing it even if it is legal as it does damage the environment. If I'm not mistaken you can't take trees from crown land to plant in your yard. So taking a rock or 10 falls into the same category I think. That being said there are some really nice rocks out there to be found . I think the law is more or less made to stop hordes of people from going out and taking everything and leaving nothing for nature.
