Jayba
so I have a trio of these guys, what are they? Red...Double, Triple. He is young, about 1.25 inches, Will he get more finnage coloration? Just Curious. Sorry the pics are off my phone.
jcgd
Me thinks it's a double red. I had triple reds before and they are really really red in the fins. Nice fish though.
fatpuffer
i thnk they have some hint of triple red as all fins have some red on it. itwill not colour up anymore but offsprings will if you have nice females. bred triple reds that had offsprings just like yours. The-Influence
I have to say red ! I have both double red and just picked up a triple red . As for it not coloring up anymore then it already is ! That is false . My wild cought seemed to get a spot on the tail every now and then all the way up till he died . I don't think yer male is fully grown yet And think the dorsal fins will get a bit longer and color up more . Nice looking fish Blake
fatpuffer
just from my experience of the fry i've raised once they get to the size yours is jayba...the red part gets brighter but it will not spread through out the finnage of the fish. jcgd
The triple reds I had had the black/orange spotting all over the finnage. That colour pattern was essentially solid.
Jayba
OK so here's another ID question. I have 2 females, one is brown, the other is yellow. WTF? I have heard they turn yellow when protecting a spawn. She has no interest in spawning, and has not. Any guesses?
fatpuffer
usually when my female is gttng ready she turned yellow.
The-Influence
Are you sure she has not spawned ? Yellow is a breeding dress . Or it could be that she wants too but can't find an a place to do so Add coconut shell caves ! I find they work well with these guys Blake
nighthawk
From the photos, it appears as though the tail, dorsal and anal fins all have red and black markings on them, which would make this a triple red. Beautiful fish!
