neely
im looking to get african's in my tank asap, i have some cheapo fish in there doing the dirty work for me at the moment. I was at golds looking at fish and i was told that they can give you bacteria from their filter media when you are setting up a tank. Has anyone here ever used bacteria taken from golds in particular. I feel pretty safe trusting their knowledge and fish quality, just wondering if anyone off hand has gone this way to establish their tank with bacteria from their tanks? rahim101
I have used it and it works great. I also trust Gold's... A great way to jump start a tank, I highly recommend it. Later,
Smokey
Yes, you are correct. Live bio-bacteria can be harvested from the filter media.[ simply squeezing the media foam, etc.]. A easy and quick way to ''seed'' an aquarium. I keep live sponge filters, in the shop tanks, for anyone who needs live bio or to set up a new tank/filter. Just a word of caution - [ There may be a possibility of transferring nasties; so be sure the tank is healthy]. As I am sure Gold's are :P :P ask for Alberto [ A/A member]. he will help you out; i'm sure!! Adding pure ammonia is another way to shorten the ''cycling process''. [ fish not needed ]. neely - it is always a good idea to have an [extra] sponge filter in a tank, just for such set-ups. mpe. or immerganices.
