cainechow
So i'm pretty new to SW but I've had my little pico for about 4 months and one head of frogspawn for about 4 weeks. And I'm wondering how branching corals like my frogspawn grow. Do they bud new branches from the trunk somewhat like the way plants do? Or does the head grow big and split into two branches? I tried to google it but I don't think I'm googling the right terms Your wisdom and experience would be awesome.

hooper
Ive found in my reef tanks that higher calcium helps them grow better Frog spaw splits as well are grows new branches. splitting is way faster tho. I have one colony that splits and i get 4 time the amount of growth out of it where as the other branches
somewherebeyondthesea
I agree with hooper, my frogspawn has been doing both! There was a guy in B.C. who had one so big that every once in a while it would collapse on itself in many pieces!
