Traffic66
Found a couple tanks so far that would just be beautiful set up, until I see the little writing on them -- Not Meant For Water. What's the difference between an aquarium and a dry aquarium. Why can't you add water to some of them? Thanks in advance
flash_oesc
I think it has to do with the glass thickness. Thin glass is lighter, and good for terrsariums...etc. With the volume of water in an aquarium, you need thicker glass to prevent bowing. cullymoto
The last thing you want is an aquarium worth of water to explode onto your floor.
Traffic66
so we are staying away from those then. worst fear since learning this hobby is the involuntary water change...
ckmullin
involuntary water change... I'd say that is a Depends moment!
flash_oesc
Something to be said for the appropriate amount of fear regarding interior flooding. I have less water than most people on here, but my 140 Gallons (down from 170) combined scares me
cullymoto
If I'm not mistaken the bottom glass in a water aquarium is tempered. Much more expensive yes, but way stronger.

I think lots of tanks have this, but not all. I don't think you can drill tempered glass, and lots of people have drilled tank bottoms. I think, like anything else, it's a choice that you can have. I think my 75G is tempered bottom, but my 55G isn't.
