GalenGrey
I'm starting to think about stocking my 29(30?) gallon (30x12x18) (hard water, 8.0ph) but I'm extremely torn about what to put in it. I've attached a picture of it to give more of an idea of space. It would be ideal for small schooling fish but that's not really the direction I wanted to go. I was hoping for something a bit larger with more chance of interaction. As an example, my betta is far more willing to come up to the glass and confront me than its tetra tankmates. I've considered cichlids, angelfish, ryukin...but I keep coming back to the fact that I'd feel terrible putting larger fish in their minimum size tank. If you've got ideas for smaller fish that might suit my interests or medium/large fish that I don't have to be concerned about, I'd really appreciate hearing about them! I'm considering planting in it as well for any fish that may prefer some foliage.
jeremoose
A Firemouth, German Blue Rams, or Bolivian Rams would all make good candidates for showpiece fish. You could fill the tank in with tiger barbs or lemon tetras and a school of Corys to round out the bottom.
