Place the wand at the back of the tank with the lights pointing up. The effect is that you see fish shadows on the ceiling it's really cool, kind of like a living night light. Important things to consider are not to have the air on and not to have a lid or use a glass top to improve the effect of fish shadows swimming across your ceiling... whoa there goes a fry!
