aquabrain
Cool! Always wanted a clam. But I heard they don't do well in fish tanks, they starve quickly. How long have you had yours? Do you feed him separately (with green water or whatever)?
Overboard
Cool! Always wanted a clam. But I heard they don't do well in fish tanks, they starve quickly. How long have you had yours? Do you feed him separately (with green water or whatever)? I did have 2 green clams in the 180 (3 and 4 inches) but I found out later that the there wasn't enough nutrients, food particles in the water for two clams and the smaller one starved to death. About 8 month ago the larger one buried deep in the substrate and never came back up. I think it was because of my auto water change system (roughly 60 gallons a week) left max Nitrates 2.5 ppm. The plants were consuming everything else as well as their ferts leaving nothing for the clam. If the water nitrates were around 7 to 10 ppm and a little extra food waste he would have survived.
