Fish_Dave_Ab
We are currently using Aquaclear (hang on the side) filters and powerheads with foam filters. The tanks look great (with the 20% a week water changes) they are very clean What do you folks think of the powerhead/foam sponge combo? Good or bad your opinion please! Vallisneria
Can't hurt to have extra filtration in the tanks. I use powerheads with sponges for my fry tanks.
Toirtis
With a big sponge filter, that could make for a great filter. I have something similar in having the Hydrosponge prefilters on some of my aquaclear intakes:
arixonbarnes
Sticking a pond type intake sponge filter over the intake tube of your ac gives added biological area and makes sure your filter pad and impeller don't curd up very quickly. Very easy to slip off and clean periodically as well. Also stops fry from being pureed by the impeller.
