Moogled
What are you people's experiences with raising Kribensis fry? I looked in my tank yesterday and found a dozen of small fry swimming around under the watchful eye of the parents. Today, there are only 8 fry remaining. Is the survival rate for the fry poor? And how often will I get a chance to attempt to raise the fry (this is the first time they've spawned)? They are kept in a 10 gallon tank with 6 neons and 1 swordtail that doesn't bother anyone. I make routine water changes once a week (30%).
jvision
I would say your neons are having some nice snacks. The parents will do their best to protect their younguns, but it's hard for 2 fish to ward off 6 fish all the time. I'd either upgrade to a 20 gal with lots of caves, plants, etc. for the future, or think about rasing the fry in a different tank.
